Bush v. Kerry, Round Three

Did anyone hear the shit George Will was spewing about immigrants on ABC?

Didn’t tape it. I was watching intently, however, and just didn’t catch that.

If Kerry was trying to “zing” Bush with that comment because Bush married a rich woman, I would think that was very unseemly of him. There’s no real way that it would be a nice or appropriate thing for him to say, in my mind. That’s why I give him more credit than that. I thought he was trying to be nice—you know, saying that they both married great women. I have a hard time believing that he was trying to “stick it to” Bush and his wife, because in my mind that would make Kerry ungentlemanly. (Maybe Bush could take such a zinger, maybe Bush deserved such a zinger, but his wife sure as hell didn’t. Leave his wife out of it.)

That’s my take on it anyway. I thought Kerry was trying to be genuinely nice.

Nothing witty to add - I’ve enjoyed lurking on all of these debate threads - but I wanted to let you guys know that PBS’s Frontline is showing a terrific 2-hour documentary contrasting Bush and Kerry, starting with their childhoods. It’s airing several times this week. Relatives in two different states called today to say how fascinating it was, full of information they hadn’t seen elsewhere.

Would that be the same Peter Jennings who can barely disguise his disgust when Republicans are doing well in elections? The same Peter Jennings who claimed the United States threw a national tantrum when it elected Republicans into control of the Congress in 1995? That Peter Jennings?

He’s hardly an unbiased observer.

Why does that matter? Bush clearly said exactly what he just told us he didn’t say. No amount of surrounding context is going to turn this lie into a truth.

If you think Kerry will win then you should take advantage of the excellent odds at Tradesports. You can buy Kerry at 4.2 cents on the dollar. If you believe those polls, then you can arb a quick 10% return on your money.

Pardonnez moi! I meant 1994.

I don’t dispute any of your take in the least, and am not accusing Kerry of anything. I’m just wondering why the audience seemed to take it another way (you’ll have to take my word for it, my audio feed was from MSNBC fwiw). I’m genuinely puzzled.

I came to Washington to solve problems. I was deeply concerned about seniors having to choose between prescription drugs and food. And so I led. And in 2006, our seniors will get a prescription drug coverage in Medicare.
Ok, so now they get medicine, but what about food, was an either/or situation?

Interesting Poll Results on Foxnews switched from what they were 30 minutes ago (with Bush in the lead) to this:

Who won Wednesday night’s presidential debate?

a. President Bush (35%) 43,237

b. Senator Kerry (65%) 80,341

c. I did not watch (0%) 661

d. None of the above (0%) 219

An excellent point. I offered only even money. Those people convinced Kerry will win should be placing their money now. I suspect most of these blowhards will not, however, just as the blowhards did not take my wager; only two reasonable people did that.

I got it as a self-depreciating zinger. Kerry said that he married a little higher up than Bush. Heinz-Kerry being REAL darn rich and all.

Who here said they were convinced Kerry would win? We only said he won the debate. We also said it wouldn’t affect the polls much, so who are you talking about?

If anything, Kerry turned it into a zinger on himself, with his “Maybe me more than others” follow-up.

Do you have a link to the Foxnews poll? I can’t find it.

MSNBC Hardball has a poll of over 480,000 people that say 74% of people think Kerry won and 26% think Bush won.

CBS is calling it 39% Kerry, 19% Bush, 36% tied.

It’s midway down on theright side.
As for other “Fox News”, check out my thread about Bill O’Reilly’s sex scandal.
