Bush wants the UN to clean up his mess: Fuck HIM!

Washington Post

Bush is about to go hat in hand to the UN and ask for a new resolution that will call for all those countries that Bush didn’t need five months ago to cooperate with his re-election plan by agreeing to send their troops to die in sniper fire and to help defray the cost of Bush’s fiasco with their own money.

It seems the US is running short on manpower and cannot maintain its current troops presence much longer.

My plea to the UN is this:

Tell Bush to go fuck himself. Let him clean up his own mess. Please, please, please, do not help this little fucker out. You owe him nothing. Let him twist in the wind. make him admit his failure.

The only way you should help is if Bush does a full mea culpa, admits he lied about the reasons for the invasions, admits he was wrong to do it and relinquishes any and all US authority in the region. Make him put US forces at the full, unconditional service of the UN. Do not give this little shit an inch. If you think you’re being too cruel, you’re probably not being cruel enough. Make him grovel, make him cry, make him repent. Remember what he said about you. Remember “freedom fries.” Remeber that he didn’t need you to get himself into this mess.

It’s payback time. Put the screws to this little bastard. Don’t hold back. Make me proud.

Viva la France!

Wow, DtC wins the prize for wanting to have his cake and eat it, too. Since President Bush took office, you have been saying he needs to act multilaterally in foreign policy, and now that he wants to, you think the rest of the world should thwart him. Your OP is completely irrational, or is that your brother posting again?

No. What about the Iraqis? However much Bush might deserve a cold shoulder now, it’s not on.

Actually, I’d go for UN peacekeepers going in, so long as they aren’t under American command.

“We want your money and your blood, but you gotta do what we say.” is a trifle fucking cheeky, even for monkey man. I guess he wants to ease the unpopularity caused by dead Americans, subbing them for dead ‘ferners’ instead.

I don’t want to hang the Iraqis out to dry though, poor bastards have had it rough enough.

I agree the Iraqis need help but Bush needs to admit some personal culpability if he wants the rest of the world to contribute money and troops at this point.

He’s also going to have to give up some control in Iraq. He can’t ask for the UN’s help and still expect to run the show. I also think it’s important to make the hunt for Saddam a UN led mission, noy a US one. Bush should not be able to exploit that eventual trophy for his own self-aggrandizment.

I’m being a little hyperbolic in my OP, but I really want to see the UN extract some contrition here and not just cave in.

From my way of thinking, Bush’s mess was created in cleaning up the UN’s. Seems rather ungrateful to tell him it’s his responsibility.

While my initial reaction upon reading the news on my Yahoo home page just a short while ago was very much similar to yours, Diogenes, I think you’ll soon come to your senses – as did I.

Remember, revenge is dish best served cold. And now is not the time – too many pople are dying due to the arrogance and incompetence of The Thundering Troglodytes. As it is, I’ll just take this as a tacit confession of their ineptitude as well as an open plea for help. There’s a lesson to be learned in all of this, if not for the fucktards in power, for their True Believers. Perhaps now they’ll begin to realize just how big a mess their Boy Emperor’s made: Iraq’s FUBAR courtesy of the US.

Dreams of Empire gone awry. So much for Freedom Fries, enjoy the humble pie a la mode.

Missed The Ryan’s post above mine.

I see the face-saving spin-fest has begun. It is always intriguing, if not downright amusing, to see what they’ll come up with next. Must say, that opening salvo was rather disappointing – standard-issue mantra has been ripped to shreds already.

Guess we’ll have to wait for the heavy mishitters.

France might not be too happy about you saying they should viva.

With the exeption of the “Dreams of empire” that was a Great post RedFury!

I think that no matther what, Haliburton will make like gangbusters so there is no need to dream for an empire.

Personally, I rather subscribe to the theory that eventually, the truth will always come out. And if, in the fullness of time, history shows that President Bush’s Administration deserves a shitload of worldwide damnation, then so be it - let it happen in the fullness of time.

However, for now, I would ask that all the major players in the UN put behind their pettiness for the sake of the ordinary Iraqi citizen who has young children and just wants to see his kiddies grow up to be safe and free of vengeance cycles. For now, we should put the well being of Iraq first and foremost and leave the case for retribution towards George W. Bush to take place in the ballot box some time in the future.

Nothing will be gained for the Iraqi people by putting the case for humiliating George W. Bush before all else.

That’s how I look at it at any rate.

The UN should cooperate with the US, however the US has to give something dear in return, if not directly related to Iraq at least something the community of nations have been denied so far; what would that me, I don´t hazard to guess; but the US certainly can´t have that help for free, it´s been a naughty boy in the diplomatic arena and needs a slap or two in the hand.

The WP article is full of shit. America has more then enough combat power floating around to maintain a rotation of forces, at their current levels, in Iraq. And if we need more? Pull our troops out of Bosnia. Not like they are doing much over there.

Senator Byrd is almost as biased as DtC. If he only took a look at a orbat every now and again, he wouldn’t come off sounding so clueless.

The US isn’t going to cooperate. And neither will the UN. IMHO this is just so Bush can say “Well, we tried it”. Sort of like how he went to China and asked them to raise the value of their currency.

I mean honestly look at Spain. They lost a soldier and are considering withdrawing their troops. They were our allies. They have sent like 700 troops and you should expect much less support than that from the UN.

And I don’t think that the UN cooperating with the US would be good for the Iraqi people either. Because the UN going back in would give Bush reason enough to ignore Iraq.

Now where were all the bleeding hearts concerned about the well being (first and foremost) of the ordinary Iraqi citizen who has young children growing up under the terror of Sadam , Uday and Qusay?

We should be encouraging as much participation amongst the nations as possible, because it is my understanding that the reconstruction is in jeapardy due to a lack of funding. My God, isn’t the US spending enough in lives and money to make the world a safer place?

I seriously doubt the typical Iraqi thinks his country is safer now than six months ago.

So what are you saying grienspace? That my sentiments aren’t valid simply because I didn’t make a point of personally emailing you with my sentiments prior to April of this year?

I don’t mind somebody quoting me to either correct an incorrect fact or to politely disagree with my stance, but to take the cheap shot you just did (or which at least appears like you just did) makes me kinda sad because I, for one, know that my heart’s in the right place.

All I’m saying is that when the UN Resolution vote takes place, I hope the various parties can leave the politics out of it for now, and put the people of Iraq first. There’s always a get square - but it can wait for now I reckon.

I’m not going to repeat what I’ve already said a million times about Bush, and the war on Iraq. Suffice it to say I think it was wrong, and that the Administration lied its collective ass off in order to sell it. For this, history WILL condemn them - I share that hope with Boo Boo Foo. 20 years from now, GWB will be remembered as a buffoon of the highest order, and one of the worst presidents in the history of the United States. He’ll make Nixon look like a choir boy.

But I digress.

The UN isn’t the place for petty vengeance games. This should have been a UN operation from the get-go, with force or without. As such, the sooner the UN gets involved, the better. BUT: the UN should only get involved if the US transfers all power to them - they should, under these circumstances, not operate under the US’ authority.

Of course, I hang my head in shame when I tell you Dutch soldiers are already in Iraq, helping the US, UK, and OZ armed forces out. See, we’re part of the “coalition of the willing”, for some godawful reason. Ah well, that’s what you get when your prime minister is a complete spineless heel.

The next UN Security Council meeting is going to be interesting, to say the least.

The Shia majority are currently monumentally pissed off with the occupation after, in their eyes, the assassination of their Ayatollah was not prevented. They want the US out right now.

Were a free and fair election to be held tomorrow, overseen by UN observers, it is entirely possible that a theocratic Islamist administration would win.

“That isn’t going to happen” says Donald Duckspeak, er Rumsfeld. Are UN troops, but not election observers, to be sent in? Hardly. And if, just if, a Shia cleric wins the election, and the UN declares it free and fair, what does the US do then? Repress it?
