Busty 13 year old booted from HS Grad for showing too much cleavage. Is her dress OK?

See the video. Is she too busty for the dress she’s wearing to her HS graduation?

Teen Sent Home From Graduation For ‘Revealing’ Dress

Wouldn’t she have been wearing a gown anyway?

She’s got some tig ol’ biddies for a 13-year old…

I don’t think she should be graduating anyway. Clearly she fell asleep in English class:

Sorry that should be Junior High School Graduation

Why do junior high schools even have graduations?

I dunno if the school did the RIGHT thing. They did the EXPEDIENT thing. All it would have taken is for someone else’s mother to wig out over the cleavage show, and allofasudden, it’s the school’s fault.

I agree with Master Wang-Ka, and note this was a Catholic school.

Yeah. Just so people don’t start getting into a legal argument, note the school: Holy Family Catholic School.

My place had a graduation, Otto, but then it ended at 8th grade.

One more thing, the video shows the policy of no cleavage. The idiot mom is saying it’s impossible to find a dress today for someone with a large chest. :wally

Q.E.D., notice her second line was that she otherwise wouldn’t “have came to school”?

I say send her back to 5th grade and give her a chance.

The dress is fine, and it seems like a dumb thing to make an issue out of. On the upside, she now has a headstart in realizing how stupid Jr. High was…

That’s “revealing”? :dubious:

Now I remember why I don’t think much of private schools… :wally

Well, according to the article the school sent out a letter before the graduation saying that students weren’t to show any cleavage at the event. The girl’s dress shows cleavage. Therefore she broke the rule. Perhaps the rule was too strict, but it was the rule, and the girl and her parents should have been aware of it ahead of time. If they were uncertain about the dress, they could have asked.

It can be difficult to find nice dresses that don’t show cleavage, but I’ve always managed to do it. (I hate wearing low-cut tops.) The girl’s parents could have found something different for her to wear…or they could have sent her to a school without such a strict dress code. But if you choose to send your kids to a private school with strict rules, I can’t see complaining about the school actually enforcing those rules.

To me, the dress looks fine. Conservative, even.

All this stupid fuss over a dress, when what she really needs is some serious work on her hair.

I have to say though, she’s really quite… big… for 13.

Sorta vindicates Giraffe

Where in Catholic doctrine is there a ban on visible cleavage?

First, they came for the smokers. And I did not speak up, for I was not a smoker.
Then, they came for the obese. And I did not speak up, for I was not obese.
Then, they came for the busty girls. And I had to say something, because I rather like them…

Page 46.

What a stupid rule!

Let me just interject that I teach 7th grade, and this girl is not all that unusual in the size department. Quite a few of my students are a lot more woman-shaped than you’d expect from 12 and 13 year olds. Girls are, apparently, doing puberty younger than they once did. I blame hormones in the milk.

And, yes, at my public school, I don’t think this dress would be a problem. But if they sent their kid to a Catholic school, got notice that cleavage would not be permitted, and then sent their kid to graduation with cleavage anyway… it’s hard to see how the parents are not in the wrong on this occasion. Because, though you can argue about what constitutes ‘too much cleavage,’ there is certainly cleavage being prominently displayed in violation of the dress code.
