Buy a used snowblower

Sorry if this is the wrong forum…

I bought a used snowblower, tested it, ran it, tried it out, stored it as best I could etc., and got all of ten feet the first time I used it before it conked out.

Now I’m thinking of buying a new Craftsman 24" electric start for $500. (Online purchase, about $60 less than in the store…)

I HATE buying new! But I’m not confident about buying anything else used.

I just want some input. I think I’m making a good long-term investment, but I also know that I have to be very careful with $$ overall.

Input?

I’m not a snowblower expert, but I’ve been using a Craftsman for 11 years now and it hasn’t quit yet. It’s got the pull cord start as well as electric start. Good machine.

The only major repair I have encountered with my snowblowers is a worn friction disc. Mind you I’ve been running mine for ten years now, 2 of them, and they are both ready.
Changing the friction disc is not expensive but the wheels have to come off and after that time they are tough
Pretty well any repairs can be done on a nice day in the yard but not this time of year and there are lots of tutoring videos on utube
I’m typing this from Northern Ontario Canada

I’d take the used snowblower into a shop 1st to see what’s wrong with it . Did you add fuel stabilizer before storing for a while ?
