Buying a PC, advice, experiences requested.

We (actually me, Brynda wants no part of it) are buying a new computer because our PC is 3 1/2 years old. We have been looking around a little bit today at a few different stores and I was wondering if anyone had any advice.

Anyone bought a PC recently? Where? How was the experience? Were the staff friendly, knowledgable etc? Are you happy with your purchase?

We have thought about looking at online stores but I have no experience with buying a PC online. Any advice on the pitfalls etc would be appreciated.

To fill in some details, we are looking for a machine to surf the net with, play a few games on, do some e-mailing and word processing and maybe in the future some photo editing stuff. We can afford to spend between $800-1000.

Anyone with any advice, stories to tell or other anecdotes?

Rick

I bought one of these, they are so boring, I mean they work perfectly & they come with about 3 gigs of software on them, & 6 months free mSN & 6 months free AOL (they ask you to choose when you order but I got both) You need to add a modem…& probably a monitor:
