hey you stick to your choice of drugs and I’ll stick to mine
The FTC method that produces the nicotine, tar, and CO ratings measures the amount delivered in the smoke, using a machine which “puffs” in a reproducible way until the cigarette is consumed. It’s my understanding that most American cigarettes are designed to minimize the score for a given style of cigarette, but it seems imported kreteks aren’t.
I smoke the above-mentioned Djarum Specials, and it’s my impression that the clove oil allows the relatively harsh smoke to be inhaled with less apparent irritation. In my case, I find that I seldom smoke an entire cigrette at one go; it often takes me hours to finish one, and smoking an entire kretek at once can produce a noticeably altered state.
Being unaware of these until this thread, I bought a pack of Djarum Blacks and found them superior to regular cigs in every way- specifically-
- sweet spicy taste instead of “smoke” taste
- aromatic smoke instead of “smoke” aroma
- better buzz
- they burn at least twice as long, which makes up for the slightly higher price.
Thanks to this thread!
I agree with the choice - Djarum Blacks are delicious, and it’s kind of hard to smoke them in the same quantities that regular cigarettes are consumed.
As someone mentioned earlier in the thread, there is definitely an association between cloves and the goth crowd. In all the goth scenes I’ve witnessed in the U.S., cloves are definitely an “in” thing.
I’m sure their black color helps
And yeah, three in one night was about all I could smoke.
