A happy day, indeed. It’s only too bad we didn’t have the game here in relatively balmy Saskatchewan! Although there was evidently more than one or two Rider fans sticking it out at Commonwealth.
I always love it when they talk about how many “Rider fans made the trip to the game from Saskatchewan”. Well, some maybe, but more than likely they live there!
Hey, you make do with what the hamsters give you!
Update: I wasn’t at the game myself, but Mrs. Piper was there, along with her sister and bro-in-law. Mrs. Piper took my flag along - I usually take it to Taylor Field games. Nice big 3’ by 6’, on a golf ball retriever, so I can put it up quickly after a touchdown, then pull it down right away so I don’t block the view of the convert.
Mrs. Piper phoned after the game. After the clock ran out, Sis went down to the front row with the flag to cheer. Matt Dominguez borrowed the flag and went running down the side-lines with it. TSN are showing it in their game coverage tonight.
So, my flag has been on national t.v.! More whoo-hoo! Be sure to tune into TSN / CTV to watch! I wonder if I can get him to autograph it. Have to go to The Store tomorrow to inquire.
Yeah, I know - I’m easily excited. “Green is the colour…”
Well dagnabbit. I missed the TSN highlights, not sure how late I’d have to stay up to see the rerun, and I just watched the CTV coverage and, while I saw a few flags up in the stands which fit the description, none being run about on the field.
I just watched CTV and Global as well (not just to see my flag, but for the story - I’m not that attached to it ). Coverage was pretty detailed, including all the interviews with players, but no flag on the field. They must have cut it for the interviews.
I thought Hervey of Edmonton was pretty classy in his comments. And Higgins is taking the blame for the faked punt: says he gets the credit when things go well, so the faked punt falls on his shoulders as well.
I don’t understand the call, either. It’s not like converting that play would have even put the Eskies into field goal range. 1st down at midfield with a minute left in the half - nice, but hardly worth the risk of turning the ball over on downs on your own 40. Not that I’m complaining, mind you.
Wow…I can’t believe he missed the field goal. That’s a tough loss. I’m sure someone who actually watched the whole game will be do a better analysis. I’m just here for the bump.
Northern Piper I’m deeply sorry that your Riders have been defeated by BC. Iam sure that my ALS would have prefered to face them next week (BTW, at half-time the score is 8-7 for the Torontonians)
