Pretty sure they are calling the OP out on incoherence, not demanding naughty pictures of women. But never be afraid to dive in that gutter, big guy!
I’m about as far away from being a fashion person as you can get while still being a straight female, never bought an issue of Vogue in my life, have never and would never set foot in any store that sells anything shown in Vogue, and I liked The September Issue. I saw it in the theater when it was released, and again on DVD. Anna Wintour is a very very smart, talented successful woman. I came away from it very impressed with Wintour and what she’s accomplished even though the whole fashion world was/is as alien to me as the Cantina scene in Star Wars. In fact, my husband and I did a double-feature of The September Issue and The Devil Wears Prada, and I didn’t enjoy Devil anywhere near as much as I had when I originally saw it in the theater, because The September Issue had made me very sympathetic to Anna Wintour.
I agree, but anyone who can watch that scene with Wintour’s daughter and still think Wintour is a shallow cunt really wasn’t paying attention. Wintour raised that intelligent, stable, generous, down-to-earth woman.
I also especially liked the scene where she’s talking about her amazing family. She knows she’s the odd one out, but she found a niche that utilized her intelligence, talents and interests and is well-known, highly paid and very respected. Maybe feared and hated too, but that comes with being a strong, opinionated person. She’s probably not the nicest person to be around, unless you are in her family or deep inner circle, but she doesn’t have to be. Why does she have to be a nicey-nicey lady? I’ll never meet or deal with her so I don’t have to judge her personality. The only thing I’ll judge are those god-awful ugly clothes she wears.
And yeah, I agree that Grace Coddington is the heart and soul of Vogue. She was fascinating too.
I just watched The September Issue because of this thread. I really am amazed at the portrayal of Wintour, which is very sympathetic. She just seems really hard working and driven. Something that I actually really liked was how it was indicated a couple of times that Wintour didn’t necessary have the raw talent or genius for fashion . . . she just worked really hard. I actually wonder if the film portrayed her accurately, cause I’ve just heard sooo much about how evil and bitchy she is. This movie just made her seem abrupt and distant, but definitely not beyond what one would expect for the titan of an industry.
OK, I didn’t read the thread and am not directing this at anyone - but when I saw the thread title I thought:
cunt defined:* ** Your Momma***
I agree that Grace comes out looking much better but I wonder if part of that is simply a personality thing? Anna is obviously very closed off from the world, it seems.
As for her daughter, I found it kind of sad, because it’s clear that Anna’s family doesn’t really respect what she does and it’s clear that Anna is hurt by that. I also found it pretty snotty of the daughter to be so dismissive of Vogue and the world of fashion, which has provided her with a very nice lifestyle and someone footing the bill for law school.
If you insist… xkcd: Anatomy Text (not work-safe)
How is she a waste of resources if even someone as unfashionable as you would pay to see a documentary on her?
I don’t understand a word of the OP.
