C25k (Couch-to-5K) starting week of 9/21--who's in?

I was able to run today, after 2 days of rest. Arm was doing OK, so I then decided I could do aerobics later. Turns out my arm cannot do any move more complicated than forward and back. Well, at least that is an improvement.

So I should repeat week three you say? :stuck_out_tongue:

Is it too late to go running with you guys?

I’ve been walking 3 miles a day since April and though all my loved ones say “good for you” and tell me what a wonderful, healthful and completely out-of-character thing I’m doing, I feel absolutely no different than I did before. (I’m not in this for weight loss which is good because I haven’t lost an ounce. I got a nasty high blood pressure/cholesterol diagnosis so I thought I should do something more than give up cheese and swallow pills).

So, if you don’t mind a straggler way back on week one, I’ll start this thing tomorrow.

Well, I got through it, but if you had asked me halfway through my second 3 minute run I would have laughed in your face. That’s how bad it was.

But, I finished, and that’s what counts, right?

Ow.

You’re very welcome! All levels of running, walking, stumbling, and heck even lying on the ground and rolling are welcome!

Welcome and don’t worry about being late to the party. For me the whole point of this was to get moving. I’m glad you are joining us.

Doesn’t it feel great, though? Considering the difficulty I had on Friday with W3/D3, I thought I might do a day 4, but I decided to give W4/D1 a try and I did it…and I’m not dead!!

I’m so amazed I can run for 5 minutes straight and I’m looking forward to progressing even further.

If you had the breath to laugh in my face it couldn’t have been that bad.

Every new “week” I really find myself looking forward to it with great curiosity. Is this going to be the one I fail on? What will my body shock me with its ability to do today?

Mentally, absolutely.

Calf-ally, not so much.
Zsofia, the lungs were still fine, but OH MY GOD my legs were hurting by the end.

I was out of town this weekend and only got to run twice for week three, so I’m going to repeat it next week because I’m pretty sure there’s no way I can move on. I’ve also got new shoes now, so hopefully those will help the knees.

I ran my first 5K after completing the C25K yesterday. I finished with a time of 29:35. Not bad for someone who almost couldn’t run for a minute 2 months ago.

Congratulations. :stuck_out_tongue:

Si

Indeed it isn’t. Congratulations.

Hurray! That’s so great! I hope you had a great celebration afterword. Very inspiring for all of us, hopefully we can do the same soon.

Wow, that’s fantastic! It’s news that comes at a good time for a lot of us.

I was going to start week 4 this morning, and I actually did wake up, but it was so dark outside that I was a little worried about safety, since there are so many more going-to-work cars outside in the morning. I guess I could get one of those reflective vests, but Himself already laughs at me for wearing what I call a hydration belt and he calls a fanny pack - can you imagine what a Queen Dork I’d be with my fanny pack and my reflective vest? Thank god I had my braces off years ago.

I’m in the same boat. Tonight will be my first run of week 3. The jump from 90 seconds to 3 minutes seems immense. My last week 2 run was tough. My lungs are fine, my legs don’t particularly hurt or anything. But once I go past the 60 second mark the legs start into the “Are we still running? What the hell is going on? This doesnt seem right” type of thing.

I do have that curiousity that someone else mentioned. I’m interested to see how I get on with the run, and thankfully the weather is lovely today, I hope it stays that way.

I just accidentally looked ahead to week 5. My advice is not to do that.

I’ve been resting my right knee. It’s bothered me since my run last Wednesday. Might test it again tonight or wait until Wednesday. It’s just a weird thing.

YAAAAAAAAAAY! Go you!

It really is reassuring to hear from folks who are farther along.

I’m doing W4D1 today and I’m a little  about it…

Awesome.

As for me, my legs are grudgingly forgiving me for yesterday. I was afraid I was going to wake up with horribly stiff and sore legs, but they’re mostly okay.

There’s no shame in repeating a week, but I would advise anyone considering it to go ahead and try the next week. If it doesn’t go well, no harm no foul right? And if you make it through you’ll be very pleased.
