c_carol's adventures in meatloaf

Warning: This thread is completely Mundane and Pointless.
I just made my mom’s famous meatloaf recipe for the first time. It turned out almost as good as hers. (I say “almost” because mine is so tender it doesn’t hold its shape very well when you cut it – but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.) No real point to this announcement; I just felt like sharing this small culinary triumph with someone, that’s all. I am now one step closer to actually Knowing How To Cook. Yay me!

Yay you!

So you gonna share this recipe, or are we all invited to dinner at your place?

C_carol’s Mom’s Meatloaf*

1.5 pounds ground beef
1 c. dry bread crumbs
1/4 tsp pepper
1 tsp salt
1 Tblsp minced onions
1/2 can tomato sauce

Topping:
1/2 can tomato sauce
2 Tblsp brown sugar
2 Tblsp vinegar
1/2 c. sugar
3 tsp prepared mustard

Bake @ 350 for 1 hour

*original source unknown. Mom found this recipe somewhere when I was in my early teens. Until then, I thought that I didn’t like meatloaf. Turns out, I just didn’t like Mom’s old meatloaf recipe.

Thank God this thread is about cooking. You had me worried for a moment…

The meatloaf recipe sounds good by the way…

This is pretty close to my meatloaf recipe, although I just schmear ketchup and mustard all over the top during the last few minutes of baking, and I put parsley in the meat mixture.
