Woo hoo! Our local restaurant chain, Cabbages and Condoms, just made Weird Earl’s on the main Straight Dope page.
It’s no joke but rather a real place. Operated by the non-profit Population and Community Development Association (PDA). Everyone knows that although abortions remain illegal in Thailand, the PDA is where you go if you want a safe one. The PDA and the restaurant are all the brainchild of Meechai Ruchupan, a senator and actor who has become popularly known as Mr. Condom for his safe-sex campaigns that are credited with keeping STD and HIV rates down, especially among sex workers.
You really do get after-dinner condoms instead of mints. Unfortunately, the food always seems only so-so.
