If the Cafe Society is for the discussion of arts and entertainment, why do we see cooking/food threads pop up in there and stay?

That kinda thing. I’m just curious, since it doesn’t fit the forum description at all. Is this new or are the descriptions going to be changed to reflect that cooking posts go there?
I think fairly early on after the forum was started it was decided that cooking qualifies as an art form, so that cooking threads are entirely acceptable there.
Besides, what better place than a cafe to discuss cooking?
The only exception is threads on barbeque, which obviously belong in The Pit.

I was just thinking that more people would post their cooking type questions there if it said that in the forum decriptions. I never would have guessed to put food related items there.

Weeeeeeeel…I must admit, I put MY thread about “Sylvia’s” packaged foods and restaurants into IMHO, because I was soliciting an OPINION on a food item.
If I wanted to discuss the best way to bake an Alaska or Jubilee a cherry…in other words, a thread dealing with the PROCESS of food preparation…I’d probably go to the Cafe with it.
Fine line, I’ll admit. If we move something of yours, don’t get all freaked out, we only mean the best.

I don’t have any issue with it at all, except that it doesn’t say that in the forum descriptions anywhere and it would be helpful. Man, now I’m craving baked Alaska. Darn you, Ike- darn you to heck!
using the excuse that it is a cafe will also allow Q’s about tipping the wait staff.
Q’s about gormet dishes OK, Q’s about Lipton cup of soup don’t belong here.
I suppose questions like ‘how do you make batter?’ or ‘what toppings should be on a pizza?’ would go in IMHO, since there will be as many variations as there are people.
My impression was that Cafe Society took precedence over IMHO. In other words, a poll about the arts or food would go in CS, not IMHO. But any way the mods want to handle it is okay with me.
Café Society is the only “subject”-based forum, and as such, it trumps the other fora (except maybe The BBQ Pit and/or the “Comments” fora): if you want to take about the arts it should probably go in Café Society.
