My boss’s birthday is coming up, and he doesn’t eat cake (or sweets in general.) I saw this really funny prank cake once, it was meatloaf iced with cream cheese and decorated with catsup and green chili sauce.
Meatloaf sounds like a logistical nightmare though, because we’d have to leave it cold for the cream cheese icing to look good, and then each person would be in line at the microwave waiting to heat up their slice.
What about a savory cheesecake? You could make one with just about anything, and if you did something like shrimp or salmon or such things, it would even look pink and cake-ish.
Or, along the cheesecake line…take out the cake part! Mold up a cream cheesey, layered confection and bring lots of things to dip into it. I am thinking that would be pretty easy, could be pretty, will hold candles, and most people will enjoy it
Cream cheese cake instead of cream cheese ball; you can probably layer it, even.
Cream Cheese
Layer of roasted red pepper
Cream Cheese
Layer of chives
Cream Cheese
Layer of hamburger
Cream Cheese
Layer of candles
A cheese mold (not moldy cheese :)) would be cool. You could make it with different cheeses melt and mold them, then combine them and sprinkle with romano.
A restaurant/catering company I worked at did something along this line. It was a molded torte (line a cake or loaf pan with plastic wrap) made of cream cheese, blue cheese and butter blended smooth in the food processor with filling layers of pesto and tapenade and topped with chopped sun-dried tomatoes. You could drop the tapenade in place of the sun-dried tomatoes and have the top be the cream cheese mixture.
