Calendars, dates and moon phases

Can anyone tell me please the answers to these two questions:

  1. Was September 13, 1956 on a Saturday?
  2. Was September 13, 1956 two days after the full moon?

That date and information on the phase of the moon have stuck in my mind for 47 years and I would like to know if I remembered correctly.

Nope and nope.

The following was supplied by this site which makes use of services provided by the United States Naval Observatory. Actual times may vary slightly based on where in the US you were.

To answer your questions:

It was a Thursday, not a Saturday.

It was not yet a full moon but was in the first quarter.
