Calibrating the laptop battery...worth the trouble?

(Note: Discourse popped up a “similar questions” text box about batteries, but nothing seemed to fit.)

I bought a new HP laptop recently, and have had no issues with it. The HP Assistant tells me I should calibrate my battery. I wouldn’t mind if the recommended procedure did not take hours to complete. That kind of discretionary time is hard to come by.

Do I really need to do this? My battery seems to be working fine. Like I said, no issues with it or the laptop in general. I don’t want to skip something that’s going to significant increase the life of my laptop, but if it’s a minor convenience to have the battery calibrated, I should be able to do without.

TIA

I think it would only be useful if you typically use the laptop on battery power for long periods of time where running out of power would be an issue. If you only need battery power for a couple of hours before you plug it back into the charger, then calibration won’t be useful.
