California Dopers - get your PG&E bill yet?

I did. Damn near ($1 short) doubled from last month. This is some serious bullsh*t. I heard Governor Davis is going to Washington to try to sort this mess out, but I don’t have much faith in anything major being accomplished. I saw on the news that Susanville and other more remote towns are seeing increases of 250%. So, is there anything we can do besides lie down and take it?

This freakin’ sucks! I’ve been extra careful not to leave lights on after i lieave the room, etc, but i doubt it’ll make a great difference. This goes right along with the rent going up last month. Gawddamn it’s expensive to live on a fault line.

You should see the Natural Gas bills here in Mississippi. A lot are tripling or at least doubling. I’m scared to get mine. There are thousands of people in trouble here.

It’s the same thing with natural gas here in Georgia. Mine went through the roof this month and there’s one town, an Atlanta suburb, that was in danger of running out of the stuff. They were actually talking about rationing usage.

This freakin’ stinks.

Gee, I can’t wait to see mine. I’m in rural Northern California. I CAN tell you my propane bill doubled this month, so I don’t have much hope for the electricity. You’d think that being within a stones throw of Shasta Dam would count for something besides water skiing.

Natural gas prices

That is an approximation (it gets a bit more complex) of what pipeline companies are paying producers. I don’t know how y’all’s utility bills are formatted, but it might be interesting to see if you can calculate what you’re paying per MMBtu.
