California Recall Sample Ballot is out!

Looking over the full slate of candidates for the first time (all fitting on one page, thanks to the tiny 6 pt. font), we observe:

[ul]
[li]Arianna is listed as “Author/Columnist/Mother”. She is the only candidate to put Mother (though there are three "Father"s). Arnold is “Actor/Businessman”.[/li][li]“Comedian” Gallagher’s first name is Leo.[/li][li]Adult film actress Mary “Mary Carey” Cook and actor “Gary Coleman” are listed sequentially. A quick IMDB search confirms they’ve never been in a film together (yet).[/li][li]Some non-celebrity candidates with famous names: Michael Jackson, Richard Simmons & Brooke Adams[/li][li]53 candidates (or 39%) have the word “Business” somewhere in their job occupation (this doesn’t include the CEO, COO, and various entrepreneurs also listed)[/li][li]The most distinctive professions listed: Custom Denture Manufacturer (G), Middleweight Sumo Wrestler (I), Railroad Switchman/Brakeman ®, Golf Professional (D), Psychologist/Farmer ®[/li][li] Coolest name: David Laughing Horse Robinson (Tribal Chairman). Most uncool name: Edward Kennedy (nicknamed “Ed”, not “Ted”)[/li][li]There is still a space for “Write-In” at the bottom. You know, in case you’re not happy with any of these choices.[/li][/ul]
Final tally: 50 Democrats, 42 Republicans, 32 Independents, 4 Green, 3 Libertarian, 2 Natural Law, 1 Peace & Freedom, and 1 American Independent.

My candidate is the 53rd listed, but since every county lists the candidates in different order (to eliminate favoritism, or so I read), this may not mean much outside of Alameda.

See you all on 10/7!

Oh, to all Californians: If you haven’t registered, you can do so by printing this form out and mailing it in by September 22.

I forget – do you have to register for every single election?

I registered for the last state election in 2002, must I re-register for this one as well?

Brooke Adams is possibly the best looking candidate

Possibly? More like “Probably”, though I doubt I’ll research all the others to confirm…

I’d like to take a moment to encourage all California Dopers to cast their write-in vote for Robert Anton Wilson.

I think this is a step in the right direction. The ostrich thing is just a bonus.

We have a new contender: Georgy Russell!

One of the candidates, Trek Thunder Kelly, is a friend of mine. Check out his web page. It’s hilarious.

Haj

The percentage of ostriches should be upped. Other than that, I don’t see anything wrong with it.

I dig the flying tacos!

www.votearianna.com has a pretty good special interest brothel cartoon.

I’m going to vote for the muscle bound, tree hugging, neo-con, whale preserving, transvestite, ultra-libertarian, gay marriage and unlimited immigration advocate!

D@mn, I left out “smut peddler!”

You opted for the @ instead of A for damn, but didn’t alter smut?

You nutty Californians do realize that this thing is looking more and more like a bad movie (that plogs on and on and is bound to have a very disappointing ending) every single day, right?

Okay, so long as you know.

Btw, what party is Arianna Huff-n-puff running under? She’s not still holding out the fantasy that she’s a Repub, is she?

Huff’s running as an Independent.

Perhaps no one else would have her.

I have already posted elsewhere to the effect that that I consider Arnold Schwarzenegger–who did not provide a printed statement for the voters’ handbook–to be little more than a musclehead Austrian actor. (My Amway Direct Distributor urged me to vote for Tom McClintock; I’d rather bite into a live grub.)

For those not in California, the list is online at http://www.ss.ca.gov/elections/2003_cert_list_ad1.pdf (in PDF format)

I found out about Ms. Russell from a friend’s LJ. He lives in CA and I don’t, so I can’t vote for her, but I decided she’s the smartest AND prettiest candidate running, and have endorsed her on my own site.

It’s so damn hard to navigate through 100+ candidates, it’s no wonder Ah-Nuld is ahead in the polls, it’d be too difficult to research all of the candidates to the extent that you’d discover who’s a perfect match for your own ideology and issue positions. I wish some of the lesser-known candidates would pick up support though, it’d make this a more fun race to watch.
