I e-mailed my former neighbour about the Feinstein letter. Here’s his reply:

With regard to the Feinstein letter, I think it was probably a form letter from one of her interns, that they send out immediately to any inquiry before anyone thinks about it… At least I hope that is all it was… But, yeah, I had sent an email to the Senator about that and it was followed up on with a pretty quick response. I am comforted, if by nothing else, by the fact that someone actually reads (if not researches) the Senator’s messages…
