Call of Duty: Black Ops

Nuketown is so popular because BLOPS has the dumbest player base of any game in the history of video gaming. CONSTANT STIMULATION OMG YAY.

Steam is having a free weekend of BLOPS. I wonder if the influx of new players will result in other maps being played, since as a group, people who don’t own blops are smarter than people who do.

People who will rush to take advantage of this deal won’t be those too smart to be in the BLOPS-owning demographic. They’ll be in the “too poor to own BLOPS” demographic. Poor people are typically less educated than rich people.

The average IQ of BLOPS players is going to drop by a few points over the weekend.

Maybe I’ll stand a chance of doing halfway decently over the weekend, then.

Oh please, it doesn’t take a rich person to pay $60 for a video game. It takes a dumb one to mindlessly pay $60 for such a pile of shit, and then an even dumber one to decide to play nuketown 24/7 on it every day.

I like the assumption that anyone who doesn’t own BLOPS is too poor to afford it. Or I guess the slightly more reasonable assumption of “people who don’t own blops but would try it for free can’t afford it” - but giving something a free trial doesn’t indicate a huge level of interest.

Nuketown is popular because it is by far the smallest map. That means you spawn closer to the enemy, which means your kills (and deaths) come quicker. And consequently, games are shorter.

People like this for two reasons. First, as mentioned by several posters above, a lot of gamers have short attention spans and want constant action. They like the quick gratification of spawning, tossing a grenade, getting a random kill, dying, and spawning again. The second reason is that the sooner a match ends, the sooner you get your match bonus, so quicker games means faster XP and thus faster leveling.

Personally, I’m with you: I don’t like Nuketown. I don’t need the fast XP, and I don’t have the attention span of a nine-year-old.

I think nuketown is the same idea as he map “Killhouse” in COD4 MW1 ( or whatever the name is)
Blast away, level up, then head out to another map.

The AK-74U with Grip for small maps and Galil with silencer for big maps are the two best weapons in the game.

There is no question.

I agree about the AK74U but I just haven’t had any luck with the galil.

Not that I play much, but I just discovered today that wager matches were their own little novelty game modes, so I gave them a try.

I crushed my first game of one in the chamber.

Between the way the server records movements in first person, fraps stuttering occasionally, and youtube video compression the final result is kind of dissapointing quality wise, but fine I guess.

Yeah, the AK-74U is a little overpowered, because of it’s very good flexibility. It’s super accurate at range (an annoying hallmark of sub machine guns in Treyarch games). With the grip, it becomes even more accurate, and they’ve actually nerfed the increased accuracy of the AK-U with the grip.

The Galil with the extended mags has a lot of ammo, too. The Famas is also a very good pick. Really, all the assault rifles are pretty good. The only one I on’t like using as much is the Enfield. As far as submachine guns go, There are only one or two very good ones, and a bunch of novelty ones.

The Galil has a better sight, larger clip and more killing power close or at range than the Famas. Damn near everyone in the game uses a Famas with one of the laser dot sights, a silly crutch if ever there was one.

The FAL and Enfield are worthless in my opinion, great stopping power but their slow firing rate makes them more fast firing sniper rifles (which are also worthless, I have mad respect for sniper kills in Domination scenarios)

The AK47 and Commando guns are great, but their poor grouping make them difficult to use.

Hands down the Galil is the best assault rifle in the game.

I disagree, though I have only personal experience to go by. I much prefer the AUG, and other than occasional experiments with other weapons I get that and stick with it. The Commando is second-best, with the Galil at three. It feels heavy, if you know what I mean. It seems to take speed off my guy when I’m running, it reloads slowly compared to others (especially the Commando) even with Sleight of Hand Pro, and it turns slowly. The AUG is probably the best mix of speed and range in the game.

As far as other weapons go, for the way I play all the other weapons outside of the assault rifle class are useless. The submachine guns don’t hit hard enough and use up too much ammunition with the Rapid Fire attachment, the only thing that makes them wrth a damn. The light machine guns are far too bulky. There are no really good sniper maps, and the shotguns require you to get too close. I’ll go with the AK-74u on occasion for a change of pace, but that’s about it unless I want to prove to myself that the other weapons don’t work for me, which happens on occasion.

If you want some fun times, try running the silenced SPAS class. Thisis how you run it, courtesy of a guy that I play with.

Try the MP5 with grip, Lightweight and Marathon. After one prestige I played almost the entire 50 levels with the first stock class, it’s a good gun and when you get better at twitching it’ll change the way you play. You’ll be faster, you’ll use the environment to your advantage, you’ll learn to outsmart and outflank your opponents. It’s limited range isn’t a factor if you don’t put yourself in long distance shootouts, and every enemy on every map must at some point go into buildings. Sure it isn’t the best on all levels but there is no map where submachine guns can’t show their strengths on the map and become a viable strategy.

But yeah, the sniper rifles and light machine guns are novelty weapons.

That’s kinda my point, there isn’t anything he did there that he couldn’t have done faster with a Galil and silencer. And the Galil has far better range and accuracy giving him more options.

You could show me video of a guy kicking butt with a pistol but it wouldn’t prove the pistol is the best weapon in the game.

I wasn’t tying to prove that the shotgun was the best weapon in the game, although a silenced SPAS is scary effective and good at close range. Pat of the reason for showing it is to disprove Airman Doors’ notion that you have to be too close and can’t be effective and also to show an alternate playstyle that can be extremely effective.

The maps force you into close quarters combat as it is.

I specifically said that my opinion was in the context of my style of play. I’ve tried using the shotgun, and got absolutely creamed doing so. It doesn’t work for me.

the dark kings is a new call of duty black ops clan theres no tryout needed all you need to do is send me a email saying you want to join and give me your email

Fair enough.

Just for fun, I made a new profile to start over at level 1 and had some fun. I imagined all the groans from my teammates when they saw the “1” next to my name. But I got KDR of 2.0 using the M16 and a captured AK74U and hit level 4 in that one game. Ha! I even had the fun of chasing an unsuspecting opponent across open ground and knifing him in the back. A first for me.
