I looked allll over, from directly from AU and from import places from the US… they all seemed close priced but with like $10 shipping. Bare in mind it looks like the classic vegemite is made by KRAFT beleive it or not! Took ME by surprise. ON their site I found www.vegemiteusa.com which directs you to a store where you can buy a jar for about $10 total with shipping. Its shipped from California too. Thats where I ordered it. I had a dream about it last night, in the dream I liked it… lol
There are quite a few online stores in the US that ship Aussie produce. I found a heap of them through google when I was looking for places where Merkins could buy Tim-Tams and Violet Crumbles - unfortunately, I didn’t bookmark any.
There’s these .
Thanks for the responses. I noticed one of the distributors in don’t ask’s list has a store in Rainier, WA. I’ll be in that area next week. Their website also mentions “Promite” as “an alternative to Vegemite preferred by many.” What’s the Aussie verdict on Promite?

VEGEMITE IS PEOPLE!!

Promite is sweeter than Vegemite. It’s entirely an individual thing which you prefer. I keep Promite to make a savoury drink - just mix with hot water and a few drops of DL Jardine’s Blazing Saddles.
I’ve heard that this site is apparently very good for Aussies overseas (or maybe wannabe Aussies)… you can order vegemite, pavlova magic, tim tams, pollywaffles from anywhere in the world…
Now, do Merkins know how to do the timtam suck?
Holy flurkin’ schnitte! Have a look at some of those prices, would you? $9.95 for a jar of Vegemite, $24.95 for half a dozen Tim Tam packets. And you pay another $15 for shipping to the US. The rest of the stuff (videos & CDs etc) aren’t too far over the odds, so they’re definitely making their money on the foodstuffs.
Crikey, you’d really want to love your Vegemite.
Vegemite actually isn’t even that cheap here in Australia in comparison to other sandwich spreads (jams, etc), but a jar does last an awfully long time.
Hmmm mebe we should start the G’Dope food store and start exporting to these crazy 'mericans. Could fund our Dopefests for years to come
I was thinking just that, leechie.
Mmmmmmmmm, hard currency.
I tried marmite last night, on a buttered scone. Yummy!
Try adding it to veggie burgers, it gives them a nice zip.
Vegemite: plain wheat toast, unbuttered. Yummy.
By the way, there’s a few places where one can get small portions of vegemite in the US for about $3. When I can, I’ll look for the locations.
