Perhaps a highrise for hampsters? I hear there’s a surplus in the region.
Everything’s up to date in Phnom Penh
They gone about about as far as they can go,
They are gonna build a skyscraper 42 stories high
That’s about as high as a building ought to go
Sam I really do enjoy your posts about happenings in your part of the world. Keep it up.
That’s from the new Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Kampuchea.
“KAA-A-A-A-A-Ampuchea where the death comes sweepin’ down the plain.”
So, there’s been a new development. This thread was about breaking ground three months ago for Cambodia’s first skyscraper, 42 stories in Phnom Penh.
Today, Cambodia broke ground on an even taller skyscraper, this one 52 floors. Story here. South Korean-financed.
Phnom Penh is indeed on its way up.
This is sad. Phnom Penh still has lots of old world charm. I’d be ok with a modern mid-rise, but a gold needle more than 500 feet high is a bit much.
It’ll probably retain a lot of that charm for quite a while, but yes, it will look odd seeing these towers.
