Camera woes.

XD pic card (Olympus 256meg) has been formatted in my Fuji digital camera, but I can only take 2-3 pics before receiving a ‘‘write error’’, and then subsequently a ‘‘read error’’.

I am travelling in India and would like more than three pictures!

I reformatted and tried different settings and still can’t get past these errors. The card has no write protection feature (checked and confirmed with Olympus).

Help. I would love to document my experience, but can’t.

Not sure if I am ready to hit a mall in Mumbai just yet.

Pick up a handful of cheap disposable film cameras and use those until you get the other thing sorted - at best, I think you’re going to have to perform a full format on the card - at worst, replace it (or maybe the camera, if that’s where the error is happening).

See if you can borrow another card to determine if it’s the camera or the card.

(Really, you’re travelling in India with only one card? I’d have brought 2 or 3 GB cards with me.)

The disposable camera idea is a good one but make double sure to get them developed before leaving as baggage claim radiation can wreak havoc on your film. My sister had a similar problem and took her whole disney vacation with a disposable camera…lost most of the pics in the zapping from the check point. TCA didn’t tell her not to put film through the screeners.

I’d go dump some coin on two (2) new cards…

I didn’t need multiple cards because I was (planning to) upload the pics daily.

Oh well, I will try a new card if possible.

Should have brought the good ol’ Nikon 35mm.

If you bought the card recently, you may be able to send it back to Olympus for analysis/replacement.

Fortunately the cards are dropping in price. Watch for sales and you should find them relatively cheap…well, cheaper than the $110 for 256MB xD I paid 4 years ago.

You can buy 1G xD cards online for $22, maybe you’ll spend $30 at a major store. I can easily shoot 1-2G worth of shots in a day when on vacation, so I carry several.

Yes, but you should have multiple cards also in case of your situation: one of the cards going kaput. It sounds to me like you have a bad card. They’re practically giving those things away these days, it makes sense to have at least two or three on hand.
