Cameron Crowe went to highschool at 22?

I would be very surprised if there was such a law, as it could prevent students who dropped out for a year – or even a few months, depending on the timing – from finishing high school.

I believe there is some cutoff age for getting a free public education, as I’ve heard of the parents of children with disabilities struggling to find support for them after they’ve aged out of the public school’s special education system, but it must vary from state to state.

Twenty-one is the number I’ve always heard.

yes 21 is what I heard too, I wonder how Cameron crowe go into highschool? Maybe he lied about his age and had a fake birth certificate? Do they even ask for your birth certificate to enroll?

The principal and some of the teachers knew that he was working on a book and decided to play along with him so he could do the research for the book.

About thirty years ago I had a 23 year-old student in my 10th grade English class. I don’t know if it was legal or not.

Many principals wouldn’t think twice about doing something illegal.

The book would have been Fast Times at San Quentin.

When I say this, I mean that my mother works in special education and knows that her colleagues at the high school have to let their students graduate after they turn 21. So, in Arkansas at least, that seems to be the limit for normal schooling.

I’m sure exceptions can be made for police officers. Cops are allowed to do some lesser illegal things in their job. And if cops can do it, it’s possible an author could get special permission.

I suspect the charge would be trespassing. And if the principal gives you permission it’s not trespassing.
