Can a Cuban phone call a U.S. phone?

My daughter and ex wife are on vacation in Cuba, which is OK for Canadians but apparently not cool for Americans.

Starting later today I shall be on vacation in the USA.

  1. Can they call my U.S. location from Cuba, or do the countries cut off phones from each other?

  2. If she calls my Canadian cell number, will that come through if I am roaming in the USA?

I think the cellphone would work, because the originating call from Cuba is going to Canada. Only after it hits the Canadian switch does it get forwarded to wherever the recipient is roaming. This is why people not on plans pay long distance on incoming calls: to forward the call from the ‘home’ rate centre, where the number is based, to the actual location. I’ve even had caller-ID info be forwarded to follow me.
