Nearest I can figger, the name must be some kind of taunting tactic. I mean can you imagine the humiliation of finding out that your entire unit has been paralyzed and decimated by a trio of poofs from “Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry”?

Canadian soldiers have excelled in Afghanistan, and the U.S. military raves about them. Our guys are very good.
Absolutely no doubt about it, but the “Princess” thing does inspire shock and awe. “Patricia” doesn’t do them a lot of favors either.
