Can anyone else move their eyelid horizontally?

My fiance has this bizarre talent where he can “blink” his lower eyelid horizontally. Can anyone else do this? Does anyone know what this phenomenon is called or what the cause of it is?

Just for good measure, here’s a link to a youtube video of him doing the weird blinky thing . Hard to see, but you can get the gist of it.

Thanks!

And here I was for years thinking I was the only alien to be left on earth… In fact, it is possible to pull the entire upper and lower lids move at least 1 cm toward my nose without closing my eyes.

I think this is the result of squinting my eyes a lot as a kid. I am very nearsighted but didn’t get glasses until about 7th grade. If you squint your eyes really hard you can feel the orbicularis muscle straining to tighten your eyes shut. Now do the same and keep your eyes open and eyebrows in their normal position. (At least that is what I think happens)

In the anatomy classes that I taught for many years, students were prone to say “Hey, look at what I can do!”…usually referring to moving ears and such. At the end of the show and tell, I showed and told…they were impressed.

BTW, this is my only claim to fame. Spooky.

I can, but only the lower right one. Nice to know I’m not a freak. Or, well, less of one.
