Can anyone provide context for the viral video (undercover FBI agent on plane puts cop in his place)

This video has been going around for a few weeks/months. An undercover FBI agent is questioned intensively by a flight attendant and cop demanding ID, and he keeps insisting that he doesn’t have to give ID and keeps asking them to leave him alone. Finally, he shows his FBI badge, explains that he’s doing an undercover operation, and asks them to please turn around and walk away quietly before they blow his case wide open. They apologize and walk off.

Since the POV is from the officer’s body cam, I’m assuming that either the FBI or the agent himself got it through an FOIA request (there is absolutely no way any police department is going to release a video that makes them look foolish unless they absolutely have to), and now it’s all over social media. What I don’t know is the context - what police department, what airline, what case was he working (obviously it’s closed now since his the agent’s cover is blown), etc.

Has this made the news media in your community? What’s the scoop?

*I imagine the flight attendant and the police were so interested in him because he was flying one way without luggage, which I guess is “suspicious” but is certainly not a crime.

Looks like a B.S. made video to me for a lot of reasons.
Why is there radio chatter in the background? Is the plane supposed to be in flight or not? She tells him he will have to get off the plane so are we to assume they are still on the ground? If so, why are all the window shades closed and why is there an added “in flight” sound effect. And just one other passenger behind him just hanging out? And why is the stewardess so hostile? Overacting? Just seems like another fake video short made to gain clicks.

Or some sort of training video. But I agree, it doesn’t appear to be real.

yep, i agree, fake.

If he really was an undercover FBI agent, then he’s an utterly incompetent one, because trying to fly without showing ID to the airline staff is guaranteed to draw attention.

In all the years I’ve been flying I’ve never been in a plane that empty. And why is the flight attendant insisting on seeing his ID after he’s already on the plane?

Yeah before I even watched the fake video I couldn’t imagine why once you’ve gone though 7 layers of security with ticketing and ID that a flight attendant would need to see someone’s ID. They don’t need ID to do whatever they want/can do to you. Once they hand you over to the police, the police will ask for it.

Confirmation that he’s over 21 before they can serve him beer?

This looks more like the beginning of a mile high club porno video than actual bodycam footage…

You may have been joking, but I think “intro to a porno” is actually the most plausible theory offered so far.

Also both the stewardess and the FBI agent looked a lot more like theater majors than they did their respective professions. Particularly the stewardess. I’ve never seen a stewardess with that little makeup. My vote is college project.

I flew once where I was the only passenger (707, forgot which airline), and once where there were four total (737, Southwest). It was weird.

You left out a few.
When has anyone been asked for ID by an attendant once seated?
No branding on her uniform.
At that point, the cops would have (literally) dragged his ass off and dealt with him in the terminal.

My name is Tommy Salami and here’s my ID …

…perhaps we should collaborate on an investigation, officer? It would be criminal not to show you my weapon…

Flight attendant gasps in shittily-acted mock surprise, guy in the back row smirks and takes off his glasses, cabin lights dim… and the rest is no longer YouTube-safe.

Seriously though, everything about that video is terrible. Every single window is uniformly closed even though the cabin lights are full bright, there’s no seat/row numbers anywhere, no branding, no other flight attendants except that sassy and seemingly terribly trained one, no other passengers are talking despite the obvious commotion, nobody trying to go to the bathroom, everyone is staring and talking right at the camera, the officer (what is he, an air marshal? off-duty police?) never identifies himself, why isn’t he just escorted off the plane, why doesn’t the flight attendant already know he’s there… not to mention the entire stupid premise of not being able to maintain an undercover identity if he were to, oh no, have to show his ID! Thank god his Halloween costume badge saved the day!

I take it back, actually. Most pornos have better production values and acting than this  I mean, not that I would know or anything…

Well to me, it was this soundtrack that gave it away :innocent: :grinning:

Bow Chicka Bow Wow - XXX …The Soundtrack

Not quite that empty, but once when a friend and I were flying a red-eye from Vegas to Chicago the plane was empty enough that after we took off the flight attendant told everyone we could move to whatever seats we wanted. A number of guys spread out on the triple seats to take a nap.

I flew home from Daytona Beach via Atlanta to St. Louis on Eastern Airlines when they were on their way to irrelevance. There were just enough seats in First that every passenger got a super comfy seat.

Straight from the FBI website. Looks nothing like the badge he’s flashing.

Wasn’t there that other viral reality show with that famous FBI agent?
