Can anyone recommend some good Horror movies?

Clownhouse is a really creepy and effective horror film, especially if, like me, you find clowns vaguely unsettling.

Of course, I have a hard time reccomending it as the director, Victor Salva, was later convicted of molesting one of the film’s young stars, but if that sort of thing doesn’t bother you (I don’t mean child molestation, if that doesn’t bother you there’s something seriously wrong with you, I mean the fact that the film was directed by a child molester.) then be sure to check it out.

I’m surprised no one’s mentioned Frailty yet. One of the creepier horror flicks of recent memory.

And I eagerly await 28 Days Later. Of course I also eagerly await Freddy vs Jason so take that as you will.

I saw this movie a few months ago when I was watching a lot of horror movies. I quite liked this movie, especially since it was done on a small budget and all. Quite well done, and a something to catch if you happen to find it.

I personally kind of liked the Wishmaster series that came out a few years ago. Then again I also liked American Psycho 2.

Also, seeing it on IFC last night reminded me that Angel Heart is a fine bit 'o cinema.

FRAILTY was indeed quite chilling- if possible, watch it on DVD & catch the edited out scenes

I was thinking about BLACK SUNDAY when I saw BrotherCadfael recommended it- I might add that it may also be found under the title MASK OF THE DEVIL, M.O.T.DEMON, or M.O.SATAN.

and now I recall another B&W chiller from the 1950s- CURSE OF THE DEMON

Noone mentioned The Omen? May not have the scare-power of some of those mentioned, but it is surely a pop-cultural reference point?

Not sure it fits the rules of the OP, but “Wicker Man” is one I saw quite a while ago, and we have it on the Netflix queue to see again soon. IIRC it was one fine film.

Another vote for “Angel Heart.”

I forgot one
Jacob’s Ladder - watch it in the winter when you have a fever… you’ll have great nightmares
