Can COVID-19 cause sleep apnoea?

About 15 years ago I suffered from obstructive sleep apnoea. I lost weight and the problem disappeared.

Fast forward to last week, when I recovered from two weeks of COVID-19. Now it seems my sleep apnoea has returned with a vengeance, although my weight hasn’t changed.

Is there any evidence that COVID-19 can cause sleep apnoea, or at least cause it to recur in patients that had it previously? My web searches turn up plenty of articles claiming that having sleep apnoea can make COVID-19 infections worse, but nothing about the reverse relationship.

Basically I’m curious whether my recurrence might be due to COVID-19 or is just a coincidence. (I’m not asking for medical advice and will of course consult a doctor if the problem persists.)
