Can Democrats actually stop the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh?

Wow. This is astonishing. A notorious gang rapist made it through 6 FBI background checks and all the way onto the DC court of appeals! At this point, this BETTER be true, or there’s some serious shark jumping going on and I wouldn’t trust the FBI to do a background check on my dog sitter! Can we skip the FBI and dig up somebody more competent like Barney Fife to do an investigation? Good grief!

While under certain circumstances girls who drink and party with boys may indeed be assumed to be sneaky and misbehaving for those reasons alone, but that wasn’t the case here. The girls Ford was associating with were underage, obtaining and using false I.D., purchasing and drinking alcohol, and holding parties with boys in the homes of girls whose parents were away, and totally without adult supervision.

Do you disagree that this behavior may properly be described as “sneaky” and “misbehaving.” And if so, would you please explain your reasoning?

Did I say they shouldn’t be surprised when they end up being raped, or did I say that given the boys’ past history with these girls and alcohol that the girls shouldn’t be shocked when boys attempt to have their way with them?

After all, the girls themselves had previously experienced this behavior coming from tho boys, and on multiple occasions, yet they continued to drink and party with them sans adult supervision. So given that experience has already taught them to expect this kind of behavior from the boys, how on earth do you expect them to be shocked by it?

First, there was no rape. You and EE both need to get that through your heads.

Second, do you have any evidence at all that Kavanaugh, at the tender age of 17, was already entertaining aspirations of one day winning the lawyer’s lottery and sitting on the Supreme Court?

In closing let me address the entirety of your post this way: You were wrong. About everything.

I wish I could say this was a surprise.

Who the fuck cares if they were sneaky? The question is - was this individual a victim of attempted rape? Does it fucking matter if she hemmed her skirt or wore virginal white at her graduation?

It may not dispute what she said “to the Washington Post”, but it certainly refutes Ford’s story.

Ford wrote: “The assault occurred in a suburban Maryland area home at a gathering that included me and four others.

We now know that those alleged “four others” were

  1. Brett Kavanaugh

  2. Mark Judge

  3. PJ Smyth

  4. Leland Keyser

Each of those four has denied Ford’s story:

  1. I categorically and unequivocally deny this allegation. I did not do this back in high school or at any time.

  2. I do not recall the party described in Dr. Ford’s letter. More to the point, I never saw Brett act in the manner Dr. Ford describes.

  3. I have no knowledge of the party in question; nor do I have any knowledge of the allegations of improper conduct she has leveled against Brett Kavanaugh

  4. Ms. Keyser does not know Mr. Kavanaugh and she has no recollection of ever being at a party or gathering where he was present

So there was this guy on Fox Gnaws, saying that there was no problem with these issues, because even if they happened, he was a juvenile at the time.

I’m not sure if SA and Hurricane Ditka just haven’t seen it or if they are ignoring Avenatti on purpose, but Ford and Ramirez are nothing compared to what is likely to come in the next couple of days.

Après cela, le déluge.

So you’re saying that everyone should have known that Kavanaugh was going to attempt to rape them, so they shouldn’t be shocked when he attempted to rape them. And hey, let’s make this guy a Supreme Court Justice?

I’m not sure which side you’re arguing, but you sure make Kavanaugh sound like a bad guy.

Of course it matters. If she wore virginal white it’s just more evidence of her being sneaky–she wasn’t really a virgin because Kavanaugh had attempted to rape her a couple years earlier.

I’m surprised SA is the only one who spotted this clear evidence of Ford’s manipulative nature.

Wearing white? The whore.

…what Keyser said?

No what Keyser said doesn’t refute anything Ford has said.

You’ve wasted a lot of time providing those links, as nothing in those links dispute what you call my “fundamental point.” I was talking about Keyser only, and Keyser’s statement through her lawyer was not accurately portrayed by the original cite.

You are running around in circles “trying to prove me wrong” but I’ve been very specific in what I’ve said and nothing you have bought up refutes anything in my posts. So feel free to keep running around in circles if you like.

The people who claim Ford’s allegation is accurate are saying that everyone else at the alleged party is a liar for saying that no such party occurred.

Or that they don’t remember a party 35 years ago at which they weren’t almost raped. Seems to me you’d have to be remarkably bad at understanding what people are saying to conclude that they’re being called liars.

The exception being Judge, of course, who has now been accused of raping multiple women. And of course, is a character witness for Kavanaugh.

Question: can someone specify the exact number of people at the party according to Ford’s story?
Her initial letter to Feinstein says she was there with four others. The initial Wapo story said there were four boys. However this interviewwith one of her lawyers, Lisa Banks, says this:

You should read the thread.

I have, every post. People have repeatedly called Kavanaugh and Judge liars, and skipped over the fact that the two other people who were at this alleged party have no emmory of it. It’s very clear that, whatever actually happened, it was nothing like what Ford claims.

Also, what exactly do you expect to come from an investiagtion? Ford has as far as any of us know, still not reported it to the police, and the FBI have already conducted 6 background checks into Kavanaugh and found nothing. This is as ridiculous as calling for another investigation into Benghazi or whatever Clinton scandal you care to name.

The only thing that’s could be the case is that the FBI’s multiple investigations did turn something up, and that’s somehow been suppressed. But otherwise, you’d have to believe that all these people who knew that Kavanaugh was a serial sexual predator somehow forgot to mention it to the FBI the previous 6 times he was investigated. That is not remotely believable.

Cite? The only thing Google turns up is a claim that him and some others had consensual sex with a drunk woman.

sigh

{Bolding mine quoted from The Washington Post}
So that’s one of the ones - she doesn’t remember that specific party, but there’s no reason for her to do so, AND she believes Dr. Ford. One down.
Kavanaugh and Judge, the accused and the alleged accomplice…gee, why might they lie? Two more down.
The last? PJ? Doesn’t remember that specific party. Again, if he wasn’t the one assaulted, nor a witness, why would he? Fourth down.

Now, why would Dr. Ford and Ms. Ramirez lie? How do they profit? To experience the joys of death threats, of being driven from their homes?
Nope, on balance, I believe Dr. Ford and Ms Ramirez.
So far, on defenders of Mr. Kavanaugh, I’ve only seen two defenses:

  1. The bitch lied.
  2. The bitch deserved it.

Somehow, that doesn’t cut it with me.

Not consensual - gang rape.

Don’t worry, I can say with confidence that this is not in the top 10 most disgusting or offensive things you’ve said in this thread. For example:

“The playbook”! I love it. Because, y’know, all of those other republicans also got accused of sexual assault. Like Alito. And Gorsuch. And basically anyone on a lower court. Also, we know it works and it’s an excellent playbook, because the current president of the united states almost didn’t win, despite the “playbook” being used on him over a dozen times.

Meanwhile, do you know what happened to Ford within days of her going public with her allegation? She was doxxed. Trolls on twitter found her phone number and home address. She faced threats of violence and death, and had to move. She had to abandon her home because she was terrified that some insane fucking lunatic was going to make good on the fucking death threats they sent her, just because she made an allegation of sexual assault against a prominent republican.

This, above all else, is the most infuriatingly disgusting part of all of this. These women who come forward to share their stories? They face consequences far greater than Kavanaugh will ever face, even if he actually did rape three or more people. The consequences for Kavanaugh for being accused of multiple cases of sexual assault? He might not get to be one of the most powerful people in the United States of America, and will have to settle for still being one of the most influential and significant legal entities in the country, just not one of the 9 biggest ones. The consequences for his accusers? Abuse, harassment, death threats, and doxxing, before any investigation takes place. And then you come in here and talk about a “playbook” where the democrats just randomly accuse republicans of sexual assault? And then offer pathetic, flimsy defenses when people rightfully point out that for a “playbook”, it sure ain’t getting much play?!

That’s fucking gross, dude. What the fuck?!

There’s a thread in the pit about this exact issue with multiple dopers explaining why they didn’t report their sexual assaults when it happened to them. You should read it. And keep in mind - people like you are a non-trivial part of the reason.

Because a whole lot of people are worried that the Senate might be about to confirm a possible sexual abuser? That would be a bad thing, and it’d be a good thing to investigate this to get all the facts possible.

Do you at least recognize that putting someone on the SCOTUS that a lot of Americans think, due to uninvestigated allegations, might be a sexual abuser, would be very damaging both to the legitimacy of the SCOTUS and to the party in charge?

Kavanaugh has been investigated multiple times before. As far as I’m aware, there’s been no hint of any sexual misconduct discovered in any of the 6 previous, thorough investigations by the agency you want to conduct a further one. What, exactly, do you want from a further investigation? Why do you think people who have been asked about Kavanaugh six time previously will suddenly reveal that he is, in fact, a serial sexual predator? And would you advocate charging any of those that do with lying to the FBI?

It might be damaging to the Republican party’s electoral chances, but in no way does it affect the legitimacy of either. There’s no reasonable suggestion that any laws or procedures will have been broken in confirming Kavanaugh. The legitimacy of a court does not rest on people’s opinions of a particular judge, that’s sovereign citizen bullshit.

There are basically 3 options here. The first is that these allegations are substantially false. The second is that many people have lied to the FBI in previous background checks. The third is that the FBI either is incompetent to carry out sych investigations, or that they have in fact found out information about Kavanaugh’s past that has been suppressed.

Option two is extremely unlikely in my opinion, and option 3 is heading towards conspiracy theory levels - and even if it’s true, would suggest that asking for another investigation is futile.

So, please, tell me this. If you believe the allegations are credible, and yet the FBI did not find anything out about them in the six previous background checks they did on Kavanaugh, why do you want them to investigate?
