Can Democrats actually stop the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh?

Eyeroll all you want, but if you think the Democratic party is pure as the driven snow, you’re delusional.

This is is, of course, the crux of it.

He got black out drunk, a lot, back in in his college days. That’s been proven beyond a reasonable doubt, but that is not disqualifying.

What is disqualifying is his lying about it. He arranged to go on TV two days ago in order to lie about it. This is part of his his habit of lying his way through the confirmation process both today and in the past. He lies first and hopes that by the time anyone calls him on it, it’s do late to do anything about it. I don’t understand how anyone still supports him.

I can’t imagine how upset you must have been by how the GOP treated Merrick Garland.

Breaking: Here comes the Avenatti stuff.

Aaand Avenatti just dropped an sword declaration by Julie Swetnick that, taken on its face, is absolutely damning.

Your move, GOP.

They did set a bad precedent. One that I’m sure is going to bite them in the ass one day. Like the nuclear option bit democrats in the ass.

Renato Mariotti tweet

It contains Julie Swetnick’s declaration.

Note: There are two pages in the initial Tweet and a third page in the comment thread. Don’t miss that third page.

Avenatti client:

“I witnessed Mark Judge and Brett Kavanaugh drink excessively and engage in highly inappropriate conduct, including being overly aggressive with girls and not taking ‘No’ for an answer. This conduct included the fondling and grabbing of girls without their consent,” Swetnick writes.

“I also witnessed efforts by Mark Judge, Brett Kavanaugh and others to cause girls to become inebriated and disoriented so they could then be ‘gang raped’ in a side room or bedroom by a ‘train’ of numerous boys … These boys included Mark Judge and Brett Kavanaugh … In approximately 1982, I became the victim of one of these ‘gang’ or ‘train’ rapes where Mark Judge and Brett Kavanaugh were present,” she added.

Trump has sent more rapists than Mexico

Dems have PLENTY of faults. But the Republican party wrote the book (and continue to rewrite the rule book every damn day) on dirty tricks.

Calling out Democrats for dirty tricks, by a republican is just, stunning and very, very funny.

I’m not “calling out” anybody. I’m fully cognizant that both sides play dirty tricks, and that this has been going on since, literally, the beginning of US politics.

But without false equivalencies how on earth would they have equivalencies at all?

I think the Republicans should go ahead with that hearing tomorrow as if nothing had happened.

Just so everybody knows who they are and what they’re about.

That minute Trump spent with Stormy is yet again costing him big time since Stormy brought us Avenatti.

I’m pretty sure you will get your wish.

Everyone knows who they are, what’s troubling is how many people are ok with it.

What did Avenatti release? There was an Affidavit and that’s it from what I have seen. Any addition documents, recordings etc?
Might be the mousetrap which gets Kavanaugh.

He released a letter to Grasley aide (Davis). He released a 3 page statement (unclear from a quick reading if it’s an affidavit) from his client. That’s all so far.

The statement references other witnesses, but does not name them.

It’s a sworn declaration. Same effect as an affidavit.

I’m wondering what Grasley (and the others) thought they’d achieve by ignoring this. Must be pretty glum over there this week.

It’s not under oath (from say a notary), that’s why i’m hesitating whether it would be under penalty of perjury - even though the statement says it’s under penalty of perjury. it’s missing key things I would expect to see, but I’m not an expert.
