Can Democrats actually stop the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh?

I’m not talking about Avenatti, I’m talking about who the GOP is which is way beyond Kavanaugh.

Well, this is getting interesting.

At what point does the light bulb come on for Grassley’s gang that this guy ain’t gonna work? Not without huge blowback. And if there isn’t blowback from something like this, well, I guess this country deserves tyranny.

It’s not like Dems didn’t try to dig up dirt on Gorsuch; he just didn’t have any. For all his ideological faults, Gorsuch seems like a decent person.

Kava-rape not so much.

Pretty thin if you ask me. Full of invitations to draw inferences, but no actual statement saying outright. Saw him drinking, saw him grinding and kissing drunk girls , saw him going into a room, she believe she was raped and he was present, but carefully does not say that that he in fact raped her.

Would someone get something that will stick to the bastard.

It is under oath. It’s not witnessed by a notary. See 28 U.S. Code § 1746 - Unsworn declarations under penalty of perjury | U.S. Code | US Law | LII / Legal Information Institute

Thanks!

Then this is pretty damning in my mind - it takes whatever you think about Avenatti right out of it. Kavanaugh has to deal with this.

Man, I know a lot of people on the left are criticizing Avenatti for being inexperienced (as if that seriously matters anymore in a world where Donald fucking Trump is president), but I seriously love the guy and hope he runs in 2020. He’s got my vote if he does.

Like what is known in other jurisdictions as a “Statement of Truth”?

I don’t particularly care for Avenatti and think any candidacy of his would simply add to the polemic - on the other hand, the less rational side of me admires his testicular fortitude. He’s fearless and he goads Trump in ways that others are afraid to.

Worth reminding everyone, again, that the refusal to call Mark Judge as a witness tells you everything you need to know about the GOP Senate.

Indeed, as well as their decision to remove themselves from Senate hearings and instead outsourcing it to a female political hack.

Does anyone want to take bets that the Republicans on the committee KNEW about at least some of these accusations and went ahead with the process anyway?

He’s not just an attempted rapist, a general douche bag, but a gang rapist.

Nice work, republicans.

You mean “female assistant”. :smack:

I wouldn’t take that bet. They knew about the Ramirez accusations and that just made them try to accelerate the vote before knowledge of her assault went public.

So much character being revealed. I’m sure this will help them capture the female vote in the midterms. Good work, guys!

“It is our job to make his pattern of revolting behavior clear - piece by painful piece.”
-Brett Kavanaugh, 1998

Karma.

I bet they’ve known about all so far, and they probably know about more to come. It’s abundantly clear: they know beyond the shadow of a doubt that Kavanaugh is a serial rapist. They know who he is, and what’s more, they know that a majority of Americans, according to polls at least, don’t want him on the bench. Again, they don’t care. They don’t care what a majority of people want. They care what their perceived constituents want, because they’ve decided that they no longer have to serve the public as a whole, just those who are loyal.

It’s staring us right in the face: Republicans want to end modern democracy as we know it. The way they are behaving is not how democratically-oriented institutions behave; it’s not how institutions that favor equal protection under the law and civil rights behave. This is how oligarchies and kleptocracies behave. Give them time and they will start using the mechanisms of power to go after their enemies, big and small.

He said that knowing what he had done; he just conveniently compartmentalized it.

Is it just me, or should a sworn affidavit, under penalty of criminal liability, attesting to a SCOTUS nominee’s participation in drugging and gang raping women, maybe be fully investigated prior to confirming him to the court?

It’s probably just half the country.

But we don’t count.

Maybe he was too drunk to remember.
