Can I find out results of a HireRight background check?

I am being offered a position pending a HireRight.com background check. I would love to see what is on the background check first considering their reputation. I don’t need any wrong information popping up. From my research it looks like only companies can use HireRight. Does anyone know how they do their searches/ I have pulled a county search and a Lexis Nexis search and have found nothing that I didn’t already know. Is that all HireRight would do?

Thanks for any/all help.

Once HireRight prepares your report, you can request a copy of it for free. It would be easy enough to dispute any wrong information at that time and explain it to your prospective employer.

Are you maybe more worried about something showing up that isn’t exactly wrong but you’re hoping won’t be found by a standard check?

Just last week I signed a release for a background check that uses HireRight. The form had a box to check if you wanted a copy of the report. But that only applied if you were in California, Oklahoma, or Minnesota. I took that to mean that those states have laws that require organizations to supply the results of the background check if you ask for it. Also that you’re out of luck in any other state. I did no research on the matter, though, so I could be wrong.

I believe you are wrong. There is a link right on the home page of the Hireright site labeled “Get a copy of your background report” and it gives simple instructions for requesting a free copy. There are no restrictions by state listed.

It is more likely that those states require a way to request a copy on the release form itself. It doesn’t mean you can’t get a copy in other states.

Well I’ll be. I assumed they’d at least make you pay for it.
