I have a flooring project and after doing all of the math I need 45 planks. But the ones I’m getting come 11 in a pack. I really don’t want to spend $65 for a plank and then 10 I’ll never use. Even if I need one or two beyond that, I don’t need a full carton. So either from Lowe’s or Pergo itself, can I buy just one plank in a specific laminate?
Mohawk, who makes Pergo has an outlet. You might find a partial box through them.
(I just looked, if I wasn’t so addled headed tonight I’d say give me your product number and I’d look for you. But it’s easy enough to find. Mohawk Factory Outlet)
When I installed my LVP several years ago, the norm was to calculate what is required to complete the project, and then add ten percent (for waste and potential repair in the future).
Have you called to ask them? They would have better knowledge as to what they currently have on-hand.
We had a couple of planks damaged in shipping. When we contacted the manufacturer about it, they sent two boxes to us.
A college roommate of mine brought some spare/scrap wood flooring home from someplace or another and I remember thinking, “I bet this sits in a heap on the living room floor the rest of the year.” But I was wrong, he was waiting to get a saw and did quite a nice job flooring our apartment’s wooden balcony, about 6x9 feet? It was covered, painted and not in great shape, peeling, a little rotten maybe, you wouldn’t want to walk out with bare feet before but looked really classy with that flooring, a lamp, and some plants. Our building manager gave a little wink when reminding us grilling is banned, you know, so the floors don’t get damaged and what are you guys cooking out there that smells so good? (Brats, probably)
At the end of the school year, we had to vacate & remove the floor but a neighbor acquaintance wound up taking it all for their own balcony.
This is foolish false economy.
Its a good idea to have extra. Damage happens, and it can take a surprising amount for a proper patch. A year or two from now that floor wont be in production any more.
As someone that has suprevised hundreds of floor replacements I would keep about 4 boxes extra.
Floor companies always budget extra, leave a box, and throw out any remainder so they don’t have to go through the ridiculous bargaining and other crap from people. It cost way more money and time to go order more flooring than to just get extra in the first place.
