What does that have to do with SDMB? This is a message board, not a newspaper. Following your analogy we should have separate forums for sports, religion, news, business, local events, cooking, theater, etc, etc. so that people who want to read about them don’t have to be exposed to topics they aren’t interested in.
I’m a bit surprised. I would have thought this was close enough to a commercial matter that there’d at least be some discussion with the higher-ups. But I don’t make/interpret/enforce the rules. Whatever.
There was discussion; anything like this gets discussed. Usually they write for permission first and it either gets posted to the board as approved or you never hear of it because we turned it down.
While we frown on commercial exploitation of the board (unless you’re buying an ad) we do allow what we consider to be useful situations. In the situation above a member of the board might get a gig out of this; potentially another member fills a job. This is nothing but a good thing. We see no harm and some potential good in allowing such a thread on the board. It’s not like we get a lot of these situations, this isn’t Monster or anything like that.
I do not understand why this is such a big deal.
It’s not. ONE poster has made a fuss. We ought to learn to let single posters vent without it becoming a free for all. 
I would suggest we encourage him to start soliciting his own help wanted ads:
