Laws and police are different in different areas of the country.
MY POLICE DEPARTMENT will accept these reports as will most other police departments. Many times it is necessary to file a police report for credit card companies and others to proceed with action against someone. That is what my credit card company told me - go file a local police report! (Several times.)
