Can I safely and legally take my dog's tarmadol?

I have a prescription for tarmadol for recurrent neck pain, but the last time I had neck pain, I left my pills at my parents’ house. Today, when I woke up, my neck pain was back. I won’t be able to get my pills until after work. There is no way I miss work today or even leave for a short time to pick a new prescription. My parents are already gone for the day.

My dog was prescribed some tarmadol about a month ago, and he didn’t need all the pills. If my neck pain gets worse today (sitting usually makes it worse), can I safely take my dog’s tarmadol? And is taking my dog’s pills legal?

I am hoping that Advil will work, but it usually doesn’t.

PS - I am such a chicken about pills that I would probably give myself a panic attack if a took a dog’s pill.

You mean Tramadol? Brand name Ultram.

The dosage may be smaller given the dog’s weight, so you should probably check that, but I don’t think it would be unsafe in any way. Vet drugs are still manufactured to a high standard.

It might technically be illegal, but in most states Tramadol isn’t a scheduled drug, so its probably not a big deal. If it was me and I really needed one and the dog didn’t need them at all, I’d take it.

Yeah, I meant tramadol. I didn’t bring any of my dog’s pills to work, so it is pretty hypothetical at this point.
