Just got my tender offer-Tracinda Corp. will pay $8.5/share, for up to 20,000,000 shares of Ford! God bless Kirk-he’s still making deals! Apparently, Alan Mullaley (FORD CEO) approves-guess this means that Tracinda plans to take control away from the Ford family.
Question: can Kirkorain turn Ford around? He is 90-he doesn’t have a lot of time left!
Maybe, but I always get him mixed up with the suicide guy.
How is this a debate?
The debate looks like “Is Ford too screwed up to fix?”
If Chrysler can be saved this way (and we don’t know yet), then Ford can be too.
Well, I see a debate: how does Tracinda pay out $160 million, without a solid plan to make ford profitable? Kirk is 90-I don’t know many financiers that would attempt such a move!
You can say a lot of things about Kirkorian, mostly bad - but one thing you can’t say is that he is a bad businessman.
He bought, and sold, and bought again and then sold again, MGM Studios…he dismantled it, and then re-built it and then sold it again.
He started from nothing - and he is now the most powerful man in Las Vegas…he owns a good half of The Strip casinos and yet few people outside of Las Vegas even know his name.
I might hate the man for what he has done to MGM film studios, but if I were going to invest money, I would (grudgingly) follow him anywhere he goes.
Even though he owns MGM Grand, Mirage, NYNY, Treasure Island, Bellagio and numerous other major casinos - he doesn’t gamble when it comes time to invest his own money. He must have some plan to make even more money.
Ford is a great auto company, held back mostly by the fact that there’s a Ford running it.
He’s not dead. He’s aligning with the Fords.
So can we say he’s pining for the Fords?
