Thrush is a not-uncommon infection in people with AIDS, as well, due to their immune systems being not up to par. Plus lots of women get vaginal yeast infections after being on antibiotics. Yeast just floats around in the air around us, so no sexual contact is required for anyone to pick it up.
The young son of a friend of mine developed a yeast infection where his penis lay against the scrotum. The poor little fellow was all keyed up to say bye-bye to diapers; understandably, potty training was delayed a little while. The infection was treated and cleared up pretty quickly. I’ve also known a man who had a stubborn yeast infection on the folds of skin under the scrotum and between his groin and upper thighs. So male yeast infections are by no means confined to the penis itself. Keep it dry and well-aired, fellas
Thrush (oral yeast infections) is not uncommon in babies. Apparently regular feedings of breastmilk or infant formula keep the little Candida very happy. The nursing mom, not so much. I didn’t know my nippled could turn that shade of pink…
In my experience, there is a long history of considering these to be minor symptoms when they occur in women, substituting the appropriate anatomical terms. When describing the diagnosis of a woman, it’s almost a cliche to say “Just a yeast infection.” Something to think about.
