My wife and I were going to head over to the colonies last weekend, when she suddenly recalled that she had gotten a speeding ticket in NY state about 10 years ago and never paid it. She had the same plates then as we do now (I knew we should have put the car in my name…).
If we try and cross the border will they tear our car apart and grill us under the hot lights? What about probing? I’m anti-probing.
Curious… I’m pretty sure the reciprocal agreement between New York and Ontario goes back further than that (I presume that “Tranna” means T.O.). Ontario should have tried to collect on New York’s behalf by now…
A few casual Googles turned up nothing, but I’m sure if you’re diligent you could find something official about what to do about old speeding fines in New York.

Just a WAG, but I don’t think they’ll care. I’m an American citizen, and every time I’ve been to Canada, the U.S. border people never stopped me longer than it took to ask “What’s your citizenship? Got any alcohol or tobacco with you?”
Assuming you’re Canadian, they might also ask how long you plan to stay. I’ve never been asked anything else at customs.
My WAG would be that Customs doesn’t care about enforcing NY traffic laws.
I suspect that after 10 years even NY doesn’t care. Of course, like most US states they are short of money right now. Maybe resurrecting old tickets for the money is in.
