Can one grant power of attorney to more than one person?

Can a person grant power of attorney to more than one individual, requiring a unanimous decision before any action?

Also, if a person wills their home or other property to a named individual (“John”) but, before they die, their power of attorney sells said property, can John do anything about it or is he just kind of SOL?

Thanks in advance.

IANAL etc. but what I recall from my family law class is that a new POA includes within it a provision revoking previous POAs. A court would also look to the dates on the POAs to determine which would be enforceable, the later date being the most recent expression of the person’s wishes.

There are also POAs which can apply to specific circumstances, which would not conflict with each other (i.e. POA for making health care decisions vs POA for disposing of personal or real property).

If a POA sells a piece of property which is willed to “John” before the death of the testator, then “John” is SOL. It would be no different than if the owner herself sold the property.
