Can progressives really capture the Democratic Party?

I’m strongly hoping that the cure for “Trumpism” is Trump himself, but just in case it isn’t Democrats need to develop an "internal “third way”, that combines the “corporate” and “progressive” wings and yet transcends them both.

My politics were such that I regard myself as pretty much even between Hillary and Bernie. Since either of them were equally acceptable, I voted in the Republican for Kasich as he looked like the best chance of stopping Trump.

I believe the primary issue with Hillary Clinton was her operating model. She campaigned on ‘inevitability’ in 2008 and 2016 and ran the same ‘giving speeches to donors’ donor focused campaign model both times.

The person who runs next time has to have more grass roots organizational skills and needs to spend the campaign doing the old fashioned barnstorming speeches before the public and in public places and a whole fucking lot less ‘giving speeches to donors’. They’d also better do a LOT better building and selling a platform.

Elizabeth Warren will be 71 in 2020, which is a bit old, but she is a year younger than Trump. I think she could smoke him clean through, especially if the economy isn’t doing well because of Republican policies.
