Can somebody explain this spam?

I can’t imagine that this is anything but spam, but it is the oddest thing I’ve ever received via email. Could it be assiciated with a virus? It doesn’t seem to be selling anything, it just seems to be some sort of analysis of the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle.

Could it be legitimate? It has references. What sort of mailing list must I be on to receive something like this?

Oh, and while we’re on the subject, is the math legitimate.

Thanks.

I’ve had spam like this before, usually directing me to a crank science site that “proves without doubt” that faster than light travel is possible and all by extracting the latent energy in an ice-cube, or some such nonsense. Of course, conventional sciencist are concealling these facts from everyone.

It’s the spam equivalent of the guy down the high street handing out photocopies of his proof that martians run the U.N. Just shows that any idiot with enough of a bee in his bonnet can spam.

I got one recently entitled “Albert Einstein’s Theory of Relativity has just been proven obsolete!” with a link to something called the Vortex Theory (at the website of the same name, if anyone is interested). It was from “ScienceNews@plblabs.com” which I had never heard of - I just deleted it…

At least the quality of my spam is improving - I used to get penis enlargement like everyone else, but clearly I radiate intellegence, charm and good taste as I now get new scientific theories and artworks for sale with my spam!!

:wally

I believe they will eventually try to get you to purchase something like hi-speed USB cables that move data faster than light. Some are 2x faster, some are 4x, etc.

James Randi covered some of these scams recently, with links.

Thanks guys. I had no intention of clicking on any links. I’ll check randi.org.

I can’t find it at Randi.org, but I know I saw it there somewhere.

These guys come up with wacky explanations for how the speed of light can be exceeded, and try to sell you cables that move data ‘x’ times faster than light.

I remember thinking “high speed wires/connections don’t move anything faster…they just move MORE data, which allows alot of commands to happen faster” and sent a note to Randi about that.

Well, did the enlargement method work? I not asking for ME, understand. It’s for a…umm…ah…friend…
