I’m at work tonight and I have a student worker who’s getting annoyed and worried because she keeps getting text messages and phone calls on her cell from people saying “What do you want?” because they’ve all gotten text messages from “her”. The messages the other people have received haven’t been gibberish (i.e. no accidental connect) but regular messages. She hasn’t sent a text message all day (except in response to the “who are you and what do you want?” messages) and says that she doesn’t recognize any of the names. They’re all from local numbers (or at least numbers within about a 50 mile radius).
Has this happened to anybody here and if so what was causing it? (I think my cell phone has text capabilities but I’ve never used it so I know next to nothing about them.)
Sure it’s possible. I use Sprint’s online messaging to avoid extra charges for text messaging Mr Johnson. If I’m in front of my computer, why waste 10 cents for each message.
Just type in the phone numbers and there ya go. Or type in another phone number to remain anonymous.
I was actually pranking my friends by using T-Mobile, Sprint-Nextel, SMS text messaging, and Yahoo text messaging to send them text messages.
I reaked total havic on them because I was able to input their names in place of mine.
I just did it this weekend. I have this recently divorced woman friend who went to vegas this weekend for a bachlorette party. Her “lover” who is also a friend of mine happened to move to vegas. Her ex husband who is a psycho constantly stalks her. I knew she was going to see this lover on the side. I text messaged her as her husband saying “I’m going to be in Vegas to keep you away from so & so”. She flew back yesterday and called to tell me about her trip. She said she was going to places her husband does not go to because she thought he was in Vegas. She spent the entire time “laying low”. I then confessed up and said "got cha’ for a prank she pulled on me awhile back.
