Can we adjust banning policy?

Scenario: I think <Imaginary, Made-up Poster> is a jerk. If I PM the mods & they don’t think so, then subsequent PMs from me just make me look like an off-my-rocker psycho with an agenda. However, if I publicly call for IMuP to be banned, & others agree then hopefully the mods will relook at their posts. We all have different viewpoints & biases. The mods are human, well mostly. :o They may not see or understand what I mean on first pass.

We now have ten years worth of data from the Raffe about how likely it is that a troll will mend its ways. Troll shows up there, annoys the fuck outta people, gets Boxed permanently. Sometimes banninated but that’s rare. Troll then socks up and tries to put on a new schtick to keep trolling–and about 99.999999999% of the time goes through the exact same pattern. Lather, rinse, repeat. After a while a lot of us can identify a trock within a few posts because it’s actually a bitch to substantially change your writing voice. Lesson here is that TROLLS DON’T CHANGE. Let 'em stick around and they’ll drive off the fun and interesting people until you have nothing but a shit festooned wasteland with five or six emaciated trolls wandering around eating each other’s feces to stay alive. Yuck. Solution is simple enough though, either install a Box for the trolls to get confined to or stop being quite so anal about people socking it up and coming back for another run at it. Either method is perfectly valid and that way you don’t melodramatic flailing gesture LOSE THEIR VOICES AND IMPORTANT, VALUABLE INPUT FOREVERS ONOZ!!!

Trolls gotta troll, just learn to corral them a bit better.

Rare = 10 maybe 15 or so actual trolls banned in the last 10 years. Filthy spammers don’t count.

If this is you restating, interpreting or summarizing my position, please know that I don’t appreciate the way you are doing it.

Yes, because it’s ALL about you and has nothing to do with the absolutely reliable as Swiss clockwork poutrage every time some asshole finally gets the banhammer. That makes perfect sense.

okay but when you’re mockingly imitating someone it kind of IS about them.

Hey, he’s the one who thinks the characterization fits him, which means it’s squarely his problem and not mine.

So, really, SmartAleq, it’s a stretch to think your post was referring to this?

C’mon. That’s not how it works, and you know that.

Yes. Everything is about you.

There certainly does seem to be an increase in this recently. It makes me very uncomfortable.
