Can we ditch the session timeouts?

Running IE6, started reply at 11:58

Finished reply at 1:01, no timeouts

“Check for newer versions of stored pages” set to “Automatically”

You’re really gonna have fun when you get switched to version 7 of IE!

Well, this is the reply I opened like 5 hours ago. Let’s see if it goes through.

I agree with the OP. It seems like the timeout is set at about 5 minutes, so the time between clicking “Post Reply” and logging in, and then hitting submit only to be told “You need to login” because your session has timed out, is only long enough for the shortest of replies. Having been burnt once or twice, I now use Tabby_Cat’s method, but it’s still annoying to have to login again.

IE 6 here, I can’t alter the settings or use Firefox because I’m always on a different computer - I don’t use “Remember Me” either.

Ah. I think you may be on to something.

I don’t want to use “Remember Me” in case someone else is able to get into my account if they access the SDMB after I leave the computer. Nearly all the computers I work on are shared stations in the library on campus - I don’t own one of my own.
