Can we finally get some clarification on what's "misogynistic" and off-limits now?

Not at all. Men can still make fun of men. And so can the women! Equality

The rules here are retarded (retarded’s still okay to say, right?)

Your post is a whoosh, right?
Please?

Come on, man. He made it obvious. Yall are startin’ to get on my nerve with the stern, furrow-browed missing of obvious jokes.

But the jokes were drive bys in the middle of serious conversation.

They were not moderated because they were jokes.

They were not moderated because sexy jokes are never allowed.

They were moderated because in the middle of a serious discussion about protests and consequences, people jumped in to make “look she’s nekkid, herr herr” jokes. There actually can be serious conversations minus the gratuitous stupid female anatomy jokes!

Save it for a joke thread. To say the rule is about no jokes is wholly rediculous.

It was just a touch tongue in cheek don’t you think? Glad you picked up on it.

That being said, simply not thinking about or posting about women is the only real sure fire way to make sure you don’t upset a female doper or one of the mods.

Not according to Twickster’s own reasoning.

That’s what I was talking about. Perhaps misogyny is too strong a word, in my opinion, but the idea is right. Can’t we discuss something that’s tangentially related to women’s gender without the juvenile comments? It’s insulting.

I find stupidity insulting.
When does the Dope start banning idiots?
Soon, right?

Or is it just a sexist double standard piled upon the sexist belief that women are such frail, weak, emotional creatures that we have to protect them from reading anything on the Dope which might offend them?

Right. Cause that’s what we’re saying. Nice strawman.

No it isn’t; you offerred a bunch of other reasons aside from what was explicitly mentioned.

Perhaps? It absolutely is, by definition. The fact that anyone thinks it isn’t–as seems to be the case by the mods–is what’s really insulting. Hell, by using that word, they are applying attributes to the posters that they moderate which simply do not exist.

I can understand why you don’t like the logic for your position being shown to you in all of its ugliness. It’s a fairly despicable position, all in all. But it’s not a strawman at all, and that is exactly what you’re saying.

Nobody expects that men need to be protected from women making comments, nor have TPTB sought to “protect” men in such a manner, nor has there been an outcry of men demanding that our delicate, fragile sensibilities be so “protected”. But y’all believe that women need to be so “protected”. If you don’t like the fact that your argument is inherently built on a sexist double standard, supported by a sexist view of women as weak, emotional creatures unable to even read something “offensive” on a message board without damage?
Well, not my fault.

But your own position aint a strawman, I’m happy to say.
If you don’t like it, maybe you should abandon it.

While I absolutely agree with your last sentence, I don’t think you’re accurately summarizing what happened. The jokes preceded any meaningful discussion. It’s not like there was a thoughtful OP and two dozen thoughtful responses before the “lol naked lady lol” posts came out. That would be a more clear cut case of juvenile joking taking over an otherwise quality thread. This was MPSIMS being MPSIMS, for better or for worse.

Let’s see if any of those things in the linked mod note are misogyny.

“Pics or it didn’t happen.”

"Get some licks on that crucifix!

That’s one lewd rood.

That’s her cross to “bare.”"

“Indecent exposure? Having seen a few pics, I’d call her decent. Or better.”

“Punishment? Naked from the waist down? I’m thinking … spanking. “Oh, you’ve been a bad girl, a very bad girl!””

Nope, not seeing any hate, dislike, or mistrust here.
"Please make more of an effort to restrain your inner 12-year-old. "

So apparently the problem here is that a mod thinks juvenile snickers are the same thing as hateful slurs.

Now, if a mod thinks the jokes have gone on long enough to say “enough, you’ve had your laughs, move on,” that’s one thing, but to use the M-word, that right there is why people stop caring about real misogyny. Boy that cried wolf, etc.

That’s not true.

I even responded in the thread to Boyo Jim because if his comment (she should be spanked) in response to a serious comment about city consequences vs university ones. It was a salacious drive by comment on a real discussion of an interesting point.

And again, that’s not why it was moderated.

Actually, I suspect that similar comments about men in similar threads would be Modded the same way.
Do you happen to have an example of such comments directed toward men in a serious thread? In any thread?

So this is about juvenile jokes then? It’s not about misogyny? You know what? I find all kinds of jokes either un-funny or offensive. But that’s life in the big city. I find it really hard to believe that this place has come to moderating humor now.

You want a serious discussion on the merits of this woman’s actions or whatever? How about opening up a GD thread? I am still seeking clarification on if or why we can’t drop relevant jokes-- juvenile or otherwise-- in an MPSIMS thread. And if we can’t, I find that to be some serious moderating bullshit brought about by a small group of easily-offended and vocal individuals.

I mean, these jokes are “sexual shaming?!?” I still can’t figure that one out.

It’s not the best choice of an adjective, but it’s not banned. It’s what people who are younger than, say, 30 or so might use today.

But it is allowed, which was exactly my point. Tastefulness shouldn’t be a moderated attribute. Especially when it’s being masqueraded under the pretense of a misnomer
