Can we get 'how to enable avatars' added to the 'FAQ - Technical issues for Posting' sticky?

You missed the point. Even allowing only the script, you still have a “perverse need for the other side to lose”. If not please explain why, in this thread about the script, you are still here on page 4 hammering away at it.
.

Well, I said it would be conspicuous to leave out any link to the thread about the script. If you say “Oh there’s a script out there a bunch of people are using” but don’t actually point it out, you are playing it up as some little secret. So maybe it isn’t true that they “must go together”. However, I suspect that if they are adamant against putting Avatar stuff into the Tech info sticky, they will also decide not to include your warning as well.

So you are still in the mod-loop then?

With your attitude, in that thread and this one, even if you had put a “smiley” in that post I wouldn’t think you were joking.

Considering how infrequently(and calmly) I’ve posted on this subject compared to those in favor of official avatars, I’d say in this equation I’m more of a nail than a hammer.
But since I think the discussion should be about the topic, I think I’ll stop responding to any more personal jabs in this thread.

TIL being the poster with the second highest number of posts in a thread constitutes “infrequent”.

Czarcasm: “Doctor, I’m having infrequent bowl movements, can you help me?”

**Czarcasm’s Doctor: **“That doesn’t seem like a problem, how infrequent are we talking?”

Czarcasm: “I’m dropping ass every ten minutes like someone turning on a faucet.”

Czarcasm’s Doctor: “That does seem like a problem… also, you’re not a mod anymore.”

And scene.

I think it’s far more important to know that as other guests/members read your posts, it’s possible they will use a James Earl Jones voice inside their head as they read.
Anything that the SDMB sends to your computer is fair game and the receiving person can do whatever they want with that data. They can replace your user id with a different one, they can replace words you type with other ones and they can, of course, bring up the picture you referenced in your profile.

You want everyone to warn everyone else about how each person is potentially manipulating the delivered pages?

We don’t even know how many different scripts are being run by different people, you just have to assume anything you put out there is fair game.

Did an avatar eat your baby?

Remind us again who called called the other side’s opinions “perverse”.

Look, I know there’s a lot of disdain for both Cameron’s and M. Night’s movies, Avatar.

Which is why I’m in favor of a 3rd, epic CG blockbuster: Avatar: The Last Stand.

Using cutting edge technology in lossy jpeg and gif formats, Andy Serkis will play the motion capture role of every avatar pic ever created. The entire movie will be shot at 12 fps, at a breathtaking 75x75 pixel format.

No glasses will be needed upon viewing.

I would just like to point out that the majority of my own posts in this thread were a quixotic and doomed effort to explain what an “avatar” is to people who seem to have time-traveled here directly from 1996.

I am happy with the avatar script. I was initially against avatars. I thought the ‘mood’ of the board would change. The pro-avees explained to me why it really wouldn’t…they helped me see where I was thinking silly. Just by reading how they responded to the anti-avees who didn’t understand that their pics that they have submitted can already be used in all manners of ways, I came to see their point clearly. I even began to laugh at the anti-avees. Haha! Look how silly they are being! Even after someone explained that they could print their profile pic and paste it next to the monitor of a poster’s every post, some anti-avees just didn’t get it, and I laughed and laughed.

So, I want to congratulate the pro-avee crowd. You really made fools of a lot of the anti-avees. You made them look silly in many ways, and some still soldier on, looking silly.

But please. This must end. End this. I can’t see why we need to push for a sticky. We know this was a controversial topic from the gate. Some folks have railed against it, and we were the smart ones who figured out how to get around their nonsense. Now, let’s leave them be. Let’s leave them be.

Remember back when we were on AOL? Man, those days were awesome.

If only we could go back to AOL.

No one can say you’re not a good loser.

ROFL!

(Can I get a sticky that informs people about how we don’t have a ROFL emoticon?)

Since we are off the main topic now anyway, can I just say that I dig your avatar? It looks rad. Maybe we should have a thread for “compliment other people’s avatars,” because sometimes I want to, but it’s usually off-topic in whatever thread I notice it in.

Thanks, MsWhatsit. I like how it looks like I’m looking at my own post. Ha.

Not to hijack too hard, but who is your avatar?

At least we have 4chan, the Avatar Paradise.

I made it on some “create your own superhero” website a long time ago. It was the closest I could get one to actually looking like me, which is to say, not very close. I guess the market for librarian-shaped superheroes with glasses is kind of minimal.

My avatar is a super-hero, too. With glasses.
