Can You an Open Container in Your Car in Texas?

In Houston, Texas some city LEO’s might ‘let you slide’, under some conditions. (ie: you’re not on the way home after ‘drunk thirty’ or you’re obviously not even moderately impaired and you’re pretty close to home. YMMV)

Texas State Troopers don’t cut any slack, at any time.
Everybody in the vehicle with an open container gets a $250 citation.
Of course, the driver will have to successfully pass a field sobriety test before he gets his citation.

Nothing against cops, but generally what you hear from them is very wrong in many cases. Most states have passed very similar laws due to federal funding. I think only a handful of states still allow open booze in cars. MS, I believe is one for all alcohol, and WV is beer only for consumption; no consumption of wine or liquor, but no open container law.
