But one party has lower taxes as a goal, and slash any social services that get in the way of that goal. And the other party has funding social services as the goal, and raising taxes to meet the costs of meeting that goal.
There can be little in the way of compromise, as the goal of one is in the way of the goal of the other.
Just like in abortion, the goal of a pro-life isn’t to create more unwanted and neglected children, even though that is the result of their goal of stopping abortion, and the pro-choice doesn’t want more unborn entities terminated, even though that is the result of their goal of reducing the number of unwanted and neglected children.
